There are rednecks everywhere, I know. People give AL, MS, LA, TX, GA, FL, TN, SC, NC, and WV a bad rap. They give Arkansas a horrible rep! But, I'm not so sure any of those are as bad as Kentucky (especially east of Shelbyville and Bardstown) and southern Illinois. People still walk around barefooted in Wal-Mart and in the park on any given day in Kentucky.

I would have to say that Tennessee has the most rednecks and hillbillies...because I've been through TN many times and they would rather take some worthless object of your pesonal possessions than take your money. I remember one instance in particular, when I had a flat tire and got the vehicle to the first and nearest service/gas station. They had straw-weeds which they were chewing on, bare feet, the front porch and the whole hillbilly works. I was wearing this cheap and worthless watch, valued at about $5.00...and rather than sell me a tire for my flat, they wanted that worthless watch rather than the money. And THAT is but only ONE instance of the many run-ins I've had with the people in Tennesee. Just think about "The Beverly Hillbillies" show also as an example: They came to Beverly Hills FROM TENNESSEE...and they are a true example of the kind of people who live in Tennessee my friend...without a doubt. I was however, looking in a dictionary one day and looked-up the definition of a "hillbilly"...and the definition was: "an upper peninsula Michigan farmer" I can't remember what dictionary I read that in...but I live in lower Michigan, and never heard any such thing in person conerning the upper peninsula of Michigan.

Ok, I am from southern Illinois. I have to tell you there are lots of rednecks here. However, I have been places that are far worse. Kentucky, Arkansas and Tennessee are much worse than southern Illinois. I guess it kinda depends on your definition of a redneck. What is wrong with walking around in the park barefoot? I love the way grass feels on my feet.

Rednecks are not indigenous to one particular state. Redneck' s are a 'state' of their own. Just about everywhere, just different versions. Some just more red than others.

A redneck doesn't always come with a pick-up truck, a riffle hanging in the rear view and a six pack of beer! Some of them clean up pretty good. Lots of people are weekend rednecks so they can belong to a group and feel superior.

That's why crap on TV: My Name Is Earl, Dukes Of Hazzard, and the Beverley Hill Billies were/are so popular. People laugh and even the village idiot can feel smarter than someone else for a little while.

I dont think FL has that many rednecks. Granted there are many areas that are redneck city, and are funny to drive through. Lake Okeechobee is WOW! There is a lady with a freaking rocket out front of her trailer! Its amazing! Plus Lutz area near Tampa has an assortment. But for the most part, when I ask people what they think of FL, they never think of it as the south for some reason. We are just unlucky b/c we are surrounded by GA, AL and kind of MS. Talk about redneck states to be surrounded by. Theres that, or Cuba anyone???

Never been to KY though, but with having the letters of a sexual lube, its definately gotta be trashy, lol!

Look at Texarkana Arkansas, or Texas!!!! (It is a border town) That place is bad. You will people come into the stores at 2 o'clock in the afternoon coming in in their bare feet, bath robes, and curlers in their hair (for the women) And sometime you might even see men walking around in full red neck clothes camo and all, now that is hick. But in the small town I lived in about 20 miles from there, there were less then 2000 people. And well lets just say that it was a nice town. Yee-Haw LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all not all rednecks are a like!! I am a redneck from TN and I don't go to Wal-Mart barefooted. I don't even walk out side barefooted. I do have a redneck accent but I don't sound stupid, I don't go around sayin Git R Done.
