I've been told that in the future, the majority of the U.S. population will become Spanish. That's good enough for me. And Mexico is merely a HISPANIC country. As many people have said above, SPAIN is where that language comes from. Kinda makes sense, considering people from SPAIN are called the SPANISH, or SPANIARDS. Hispanic doesn't count because that goes for other Spanish-speaking countries. And besides, it can't hurt for you to learn someone else's language for a change, right? I mean, ignorance may be bliss, but not when you're trying to make an order in a Chinese restaurant in which the only words from the English language that they understand are "dollar", "yes" and "no". Oh, and "that one".

Because they also teach Italian and French in schools to help our children be more well rounded in education. The agruement that teaching spanish and the wall at Mexico are two far apart.

However, The Mexican government is getting mad at the US for its proposed immigration policy. But what are those countries doing to help keep there people. Thats the question people need to stop and ask.

Once in this country we decided (US) that we wanted to be free to rule. If people in other countries are not liking the way things are, they need to change them and not run off. This goes for all, not just Mexico.

My mother is legal in this country and she is it as this. "I spent the time and money to come to the US legal, so should everyone else"

There is nothing wrong to teach or learn Spanish, besides Spanish is not from or for Mexican only,it is the fourth or fifth popular language speaking in the world,I think is good for people to learn more than less.

I think United States take school for granted. Look at Japan - they study millions of different languages .. they are so damn smart.

We're just spoiled and want to take an easy way out of school. I guess it's important to teach Spanish to students, BUT THEY SHOULD TEACH AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE because alot of deaf people are AMERICANS. More Spanish than American Sign Language. What the heck?

There is nothing wrong with teaching spanish in american schools, however, there is never a reason for our american schools to be funding school services for special spanish speaking students who do not know english or refuse to learn english. Learn the language or go to a spanish speaking country.

Spanish is a universal language for all latin decent cultures. Mexican, Puerto Rico, Spain, Venezuela etc all speak the latin language but with there own slang " there own unique way of speaking and saying words in the latin language". Im pretty sure even the Italian language fits in this catagory of latin language otherwise its similar not sure though?

Spanish is the second largest spoken language in America so thats probably why it is taught here in America.

The ones who are legally here need us to communicate with them well and some may not have been here long enough to master English. Spanish is spoken in many instances, so it is important to learn it. I believe that anyone who is not able to speak English should learn immediately, but we also need people to know other languages so we can teach them.

American schools should ONLY teach classes in English. The only exception should be foreign language classes.

If people want to come to the US, they should be prepared to BECMOME Americans....and that should require learning the national language.....ENGLISH. We are making a huge mistake to teach classes in any foreign tongue.

PS....I think the person who asked the question was referring to teaching IN Spanish, rather than teaching Spanish. We should always have foreign language classes, so that we can learn to go to foreign countries and communicate with them. But, American schools should only use English to teach the kids in regular classes.

~I agree. Surfing this site, I can see that English should be taught as a foreign language.
Damn, ever since they built their wall, the Chinese have taken to speaking that gibberish they use and nobody understands them.
What idiot actually believes that a wall will be or can be built on the Mexican border.
We better lay mines in North Dakota and Minnesota in case the SOB's try to make and end run through Canada too, don't you think.

Yeah, and I,m also tired of having to pay extra for everything because they have to write everything on the product in both Spanish and English. Yesterday at the store I couldnt find Frosted Flakes. My kid was going nuts!! It's cause the damn boxes on the shelf had only been written in Spanish. And this is my country??
