There is a dead rabbit or somehting in the bushes right outside my front door. I need to clean it up, but I can't get near it without getting nauseous! If I wait a few days, will the smell be less potent? It's been in the upper 80's and low 90's here... not a good situation! Thank you so much for any advice you have to offer!

yes the smell will go away but i suggest you get it cleaned up before that. a dead animal in the heat is not a good thing..it will swell and "pop"..very discusting..just so you'll know if it is on your property animal controll WILL NOT come and dispose of it for you..i know from experience...just put some vicks under your nose and work fast...early morning or evening is better...hope i helped...

I would clean it up right away - use a double garbage bag and throw it out - lest you have maggots and insects all over the place. It will probably be really bad in the hot sun too - leaving it there will become a health hazard and smell horrid.

You can always call your local Animal Control - sometimes they pick them up and dispose of them free.

no, because bacteria in the soil will cause the dead thing to decay even further, and the bacteria secrete a nauseous odor, so maybe in about 20 years the smell would go away.. I would just hold my nose and pray to god

it will go away faster if you remove it. My suggestion is to get some kind of perfumed oil and just put a small dab of it directly under each nostrel, just above your upper lip. This will help block out the nasty decay odor.

It will eventually rot away. But you would have to put up with it until then.
You can throw some lye or lime on it. Ask the hardware store guy he will know. You could also call animal control to have them remove the remains.
Yuck.

yes the smell will eventually fade away, but try putting a clothes pin on your nose when trying to clean it up and try dousing the smelly area with bleach or pine-sol. Hope that helps.

No. Carcasses continue to smell forever. That odor in the air? It's from the dinosaurs.

Yes it will fade, and quickly .. give it a few days and your local insects will clean it up for you ... nature has a wonderful "self-cleaning" system.
