Parents tend to do this, especially if they think we might be making the wrong decision or we take for granted what we have presently. They do it to help us avoid andlearn (from) the mistakes they made and to be able to live a better live than they did.

Parents feel that the proof of your life (and its conditions) is a reflection of the job they did as a parent and they want to do it to the best of their ability.

Look at the motivation behind the "lectures" then you can appreciate the effort of your parents.

Plain and simple they want for you (and any siblings) to have a happier life without the complications and struggles and problems that they had -- and if they see that you are heading in the same direction as them they will hound you until you change your ways

Its not a bad thing that they want better for you its a bonus
its love

In my case it's to let my kids know so they don't make the same mistakes, and so they don't have to work as hard as I've had to in order to have the same assets.
