It's all we're hearing about...
Terrorists from Miami were trying to blow up the Sears Tower...
but it sounds like these guys were set up or like it was some kind of entrapment...

If they were really trying to commit an act of terrorism, then I'm glad they got caught...
But if they weren't then I'm ashamed of being from Florida.

Your thoughts?

I guess I'll just need to see some HARD evidence that they were really planning it... like blueprints or something...
But they are young... like 22 years old and they are American citizens who work here... we can't treat this lightly.

It is impossible at this time for us to know... the information was JUST released an hour ago... but how can we ever REALLY know if there was a plot or if some kids got arrested for being "liberal".

Thanks Almost3Am - I feel a little better, given that information. But does anybody else think about how it will affect our society if we get to a point where they can arrest us for what we "thought about" or "planned to do"? I mean, they could just make it up as they go along.

I'd like to think not, but I don't trust anything they do or say anymore. I held off on believing it was actually Zarqawi until there was a ton of evidence.

It's sad, but they've lied so many times that they're going to have to have a TON of evidence before I believe it was an honest threat.

Let's face facts, Karl Rove is back, and suddenly, we're going to be attacked. While he was in hiding over his treasonous acts, you'll note that nothing like this EVER came out. He comes back, and here we go again!

Come on guys just how many people in the twin towers deserved to die? Isn't just one innocent life one too many?

How many would be likely to die in the Sears tower if it were blown up.

If anyone out there really thinks these guys in Miami should not have been arrested and questioned or that your government or president should go in order to stop such preventive action I sincerely hope the FBI and various police agencies are getting really close to you!!!

Recently someone asked the question "why don't people like Americans?" I think you might just have touched on the answer to why they might think that of some Americans.

No, they deserved to be arrested and I doubt politics had anything to do with it.

The fact that they actually went from Florida to Chicago, Illinois to do reconnaissance and take photos shows they had a drive to do the attack. That is a rather large time and monetary investment to do on a lark. They were trying to get funding and supplies to build a bomb plus weapons to attack Americans. They had appearantly been planning this for months so that goes beyond some guys just spouting off.

The fact that they were rather incompetent doesn't change the fact they were dangerous and deserved to be taken in. Because if they had done the attack and nothing was done to stop them the American people would be screaming bloody murder over it, and would be justified in doing so.

When did the story just come out? I just saw the press conference. How quickly do you expect the "hard" evidence to come out? You are way too quick to make such assumptions! According to you, bush is "guilty till proven innocent."

But it seems like IF the republicans were controling the timing of this arrest, for politican gain, they would want to DELAY the arrest for a couple weeks. This is likely to be forgotten by the public by the time elections run around.

Not to say Bush & other republicans won't use this for their polital advantage. They are politicians, after all!

Good intelligence information was gathered and these morons got caught. I'm glad and I don't think it was entrapment either because it is well known that there are evil people wishing to do the USA harm and this men had a very well planned plot to kill innocent people.

Well, we don't know much yet, but we do know they were attempting to get in contact with Al-Qaida, but instead ending up talking with an informant. They took an oath to Al-Qaida and were trying to work with terrorists.

Also, this was in the indictment:

[They]"...recruited and trained others beginning in November 2005 "for a mission to wage war against the United States government," including a plot to destroy the Sears Tower."

From Indictment: build an "'Islamic Army' to wage jihad'

My thoughts are...

Would you be willing to release those guys busted in Miami and then be the only person in the Sears Tower to test your theory?

Anything less is playing with the lives of other people... a right you do not have.

I think they probably are "terrorists" but I do not think they are associated with Al Quadea. They are probably some lunatics who hate the United States, I do not know for sure yet, but it could be. Everything is going crazy now ever since that election in 2000. I. I just want peace. I don't want to hear another word about nuclear bombs, terrorists and so on. I want peace.
