Go to the garden store and by Gypsum. Tell them your dog is killing your grass. They'll know what you need. The gypsum kills the acidity and the grass can grow back.

That happened in our yard when our neighbors dog would go. Umm... if it is grass, maybe try digging up the patch and putting sod down?? If it is where a plant was then dig up the old, swap out some soil and try again? I am not really sure though. Sorry!

Good answers, I just wanted to add that a good dog repellent will change where the dog goes, and there are products to train it to an area that is acceptable.

give your dog a cup of tomato juice a day. i dont know what it does but my grandma does it with her pit bull and the pee does not kill the grass anymore

Urine is highly acidic. Try putting some lime on the areas to neutralize it.

You better believe it, and it never will. Try moth balls or black pepper. You will have to reapply, but your dog may learn to leave those areas alone.
