It is NOT "the rain in Spain is mainly on the plane," but "the rain in Spain is mainly in the plain." AND, the plain is dirty simply because it is full of dirt.

The saying goes, "The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain." Since the plane is not always on the plain, it gets dirty from time to time.
That's the truth, plane as I no how!

Are you speaking of the rain falling on flat land in Spain (plain) or an aeroplane? The flat land (plain) will be clean but the aeroplane can be dirty if it is not cleaned
