FullMetal Alchemist is my absolute favorite, although Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is a close second. I think my first ever really good anime, Spirited Away, deserves honorable mention for turning me onto Japanese Animation in the first place.

Best anime movie as of today:

1. Howl's Moving Castle
2. Ghost in the Shell

Tough call, but for best anime series I'd say there's a tie:

1. Big O
2. FLCL
3. Cowboy Bebop

However in 5 years, all of these will be replaced by better stories and animation quality...

In my opinion the best animes are Full Metal Panic, its sequel the Second Raid, Magic Knight Rayearth, Card Captor Sakura, and X (I would put DN Angel but i think the anime fails in comparision to the manga) also put in Bleach and Eureka Seven.

To me it is a tie between Inuyasha and Fullmetal Alchemist for me. They both have great storylines and you cant help but love all the characters. There is comedy, romance, and alot of action in both of the series. I LOVE ANIME!

I cannot choose; the best is what I am watching at the time. Currently I am watching Full Metal Panic.

X/1999 (visually stunning) and Orphen (first season - offbeat and funny). Cowboy Beebop is fun too if you like B-type westerns.
