I love to pay at the pump, but I like to keep my receipt. I hate those pumps that let you pay at the pump and give you the option to keep your receipt and then tell you at the end you have to go inside to get it. The whole point of paying at the pump is so you don't have to go inside. I feel your pain.

I agree. I was in a hurry before work today. I put $10 in just so I had something in there (guage broken so I'm always at a loss) - anyway, the last 50 cents seemed to take forever. Yes it is aggravating BUT at the same time, there are people who will fill their tanks and run. With gas prices the way they are NOW, can you imagine if they keep taking a loss and have another excuse to raise the gas higher? People will say to use your debit card (most are like Visa's, etc. and you can use them at the pump). I don't always have the $$ in my account though so I don't do that too often.

Very annoyed. Now that the gas prices are up, drive-offs are up too, but I don't like being mistrusted. I am an honest citizen and it's a real pain to prepay, especially in daylight hours. I have this gas card that will not scan, so I have to go inside with it, determine how much gas I'll need for a fillup, and then pump it. It's hard to figure out how much gas you'll need.

I am not annoyed by this as much as I see people pumping gas a running without paying. Pay by credit or debit card and the gas won't slow down at the end of what you want to pay. The day of cash is definitely slow you down.

If it weren't for the jerks who do drive offs, this wouldn't be necessary. If people didn't steal the gas by pumping it in their vehicle and drive off without paying, then it wouldn't be necessary to pay first. The workers and owners of the station are just protecting themselves from thieves.

I always fill up, so I can't pay first because I don't know how much the gas will cost. That's why I always use my gas card -- just swipe and go. But you have to be disciplined enough to pay your gas bill off each month!

In Oregon, where I live, it's illegal to pump your own gas for some strange reason. So you just sit in your car, hand your card to the attendant, and he does it for you. Oddly, gas is often slightly cheaper here than in Washington, where you pump it yourself.

It is annoying, especially on a motorcycle where you don't know how much it is going to hold. I usually go in and tell them I want 1.00$ worth, pump it, then go back and tell them I want 1.00$, pump it and keep doing this till it's full.

I live in a small town where you can pump first and then pay. It's in states like Wyoming, N. Dakota, S. Dakota, Montana where you can still do that.
