I posted this question yesterday but I'm so SICK of not finding a job that I had to post it again.
I graduated 3 years ago with a B.S. (no kidding haha, it's bulls***) in Industrial Management and I cannot find a job.
I've even applied at being an assistant manager at Applebee's and they turned me down!
COLLEGE IS WORTHLESS.
Everyone wants EXPERIENCE.
From now on, I'm telling every kid I see, to work right out of high school and to just work their way up in whatever they choose to do. I have friends who did that and are making 40K a year and I'm UNEMPLOYED! I wasted $30,000, all to find out that I need to start at the bottom to get anywhere!
COLLEGE IS WORTHLESS!!!
It's seriously meaningless to have a degree nowadays.
It's almost as if going to college is now viewed as a way to coast for four years. It's true because college is a JOKE now, and it's so easy to graduate. High schools are LYING by saying college is needed.
I'm about to take a job as a waiter, go ahead and laugh

Maybe college isn't worthless but you are. Sorry, but when an educated person applies for job after job and doesn't land even a restaurant position, you wonder what really is turning employers off. Telling an applicant that "experience" is all they lack is an easy way to avoid telling them that they have a personal issue. Look honestly at yourself..or ask a trusted friend to be honest and identify those things about you that make you unhirable.
Step outside your expectations for a career and look at other options. Contact the college where you attended and talk with a career counselor. Attend job fairs. Move to an area of the country that has more job opportunities.

I would first have to say, that I am sorry that you have not found a job yet. Secondly, I feel that choosing the field of work is the catch. I am currently working a BA degree in Business Administration. I have worked since I was in high school (which was a long time ago) and haven't stopped yet.
I don't think college is worthless at all. You can get paid alot more with a degree, its true. I am 31 now and life experience and working while I was in school, has really made a difference for me in the field that I have pursued.
There is no shame in taking a job you need, in the mean time. Please don't give up, you will get that job you worked so hard in school to get. I wish you the best and good luck to you!

Well, they say with a college degree you get paid more money and have more opertunites than just a high school degree. I am sorry to hear that things are not working out for you. If you have not, try finding different jobs that would outside the normal relm of Industrial Management. Try posting on monster.com. Also, consider moving somewhere else -- maybe there is nothing available locally. Good luck!

i know exactly what you mean. my boyfriend and i talk about this all of the time because he is a computer tech and i am working my way through college. he didnt go to college and by the time i graduate he is going to be making so much more money than me. a lot of the time i wonder if its even worth all of the time and effort. i see college as more of something to fall back on, or something that will look good on a resume rather than my ticket to my dream job. i am spending more time trying to get ahead at my job and making strong references because it seems like nothing is really guaranteed anymore. it is pretty sad.

Having a degree is not magic. You're not going to be swarmed by managers of corporations.
Besides a paper it might be a good idea to consider other things to make an impression. Clothing, a look of authority, self confidence, physical shape, any many other things.

First of all, 40K a year isn't alot, if you bought a house worth about 400k, you would be paying it off for 10 YEARS! You should have at least tried to get a Phd in somethign if you watned to get a good job. It also depends on what your degree is in, Programming degrees earn alot of money these days.

You'll get a job. I know it's frustrating but hang in there. You'll see the value of that college degree, I promise.

I think it goes both ways- depending upon your degree. Did you work at all while in school?
Maybe it is your resume? hmmm....
Best of luck!

Yes, you would have been better off spending your time and money learning the secrets of the markets (stocks and commodities).
