Van Briggle is an old pottery company and/or its' current incarnation/revival. The 'new' company is putting out new versions of the old styles. There are several differences, tho' they might not be easy to distinguish to the novice Pottery Person. You might want to check it out on -line or even in person at your local, larger library. There are differences in the clay color for starters. Is the bottom of this piece very white, or a rich cream color? Does it show (gentle) signs of wear? If it is cracked or chipped the value plummets. Best wishes on your (re-) search.
