If you don't want a baby then USE A CONDOM! There is no way around this very basic advice - don't do ANYTHING with your genitals without a condom!
You should take your first foray into sex carefully, or rather than hurting it will quite likely disappoint both of you. Women often find their first sexual encounter painful, but this is as much because of nerves as any physical cause. The vagina is very elastic, and properly stimulated will enlarge to accommodate a generous penis. I strongly discourage you from rushing, and use a lubricant if you think that might help. Try to persuade your boyfriend not to go in too deep until you are ready - it doesn't matter if it takes him half an hour to go fully inside you (in fact you will probably both find this very pleasurable!). Take your first movements slowly and gently, and build up a rhythm you are both comfortable with. Do not go like jackhammers until you both want that. If (as is quite likely) he ejaculates into the condom before you get very far, he should be able to continue after a short break, by using a new condom after cleaning his penis. Erections in healthy young men do not collapse that quickly, if kept stimulated (you may wish to hold it gently while he relaxes, to keep it stiff). Practice makes perfect. Be careful, be loving, and have fun

It would depend on many things...the age of the partners, perhaps the size of the partner, the emotional state of the girl and the level of involvement in her relationship with the male partner (assuming the sex is with a male).
Some girls have a thicker or unbroken membrane (hymen) which may obstruct the entry of the penis, so pressure on this may cause pain or discomfort.
Otherwise, pain/discomfort could be for various reasons, probably because she's too young or not in love or not prepared, ie if there's no lubrication and the girl is all tensed up. Pain and/or discomfort could possibly last the entire time during intercourse, or just at the beginning, or possibly it could hurt for days, depending on how much force was used upon entry and during the penetration itself.
Ideally, sexual intercourse for the first time for a girl is when she is old enough to feel a deep level of affection for her partner and is fully prepared for the event. Then it should not hurt.

I couldn't honestly tell you weather or not it will hurt you. Because It really all depends on alot. First your age. if you are still under 18 yeah most of the time it will hurt. Because of the fact that if your under 18 then your bodys not fully ready for the exsperiance yet. Iv been told pleanty of times that It didn't hurt this girl or that girl for the first time. but most of those girls were bigger than me too. Im only 4'10 and i was around 4'3 when i lost virginity. So yeah it hurt the first time. All that happened was he stuck it in once not even all the way. and then he pulled it almost back out and tryed to go in a little deeper. well i jumped up and ran to the bathroom. And Ladys and gentlemen that is how to loose your virginity...lol but no on the seriouse side. It can hurt or some times it won't. Just make shur that your boyfriend, understands that he needs to take it slow and if you tell him to do something during it. He better listen to you, cause if not he could seriouslly hurt you. Make shur hes the one, cause trust me if hes not you will really regret it when you do find mister right. Not saying there might be problems between you two just saying if you honestlly think that somwhere in your heart not mind. That your not going to be with him forever. Then you might wanna wait till you know for shur. Cause Girl Im only 21 I got married at 16 and we've been seperated for 4 years, and in the middle of our seperation I have found the man of my dreams, hes given me a gourges little boy thats 8 months and 5 days old now. So I really know what regret is. I know I should have waited. Its not what its made out to be. Unless your with the person , thats yours..

if you are under age, it will definately hurt emotionally for a long time, regret can be very painful.
But as far as physical pain, every person is different. Usually, it is painful, unless you've been a very active horse rider or something like that.
It shouldn't hurt for very long. and if your partner is considerate, he will take great strides to spend plenty of time getting you ready; which will make it even easier.

Hmm... well I've heard it does hurt but it all depends on how relaxed or excited you could be. There's usually a little pain but if you're not ready to do it, then just wait. Don't plan it to happen just let it happen, let it be spontaneous!!!

my first didnt hurt, but my friend's did.
i would also suggest you read up on statistics about relationships that involve sex beofre marriage. they ususally fail, not all, but most.
also, 80% - 90% of women cannot have orgasims during sex, so be prepared that you may not enjoy sex as much as the dreams you have about it, just in case you're not one of the lucky ones.
