Its hard to answer with our knowing why your mom feels she has any rights to your money. Maybe you should give her 100 a month for rent etc...and the rest is yours...your maybe you should at least tell her, look I don't mind helping out and I do feel that you should get something but not ALL of it. I worked hard for this money and I should Be able to spend some of it the way I want too. And you should!!! I would try talking to her about this before you go to extremes. Yes you can go to court and be emancipated but then you would be left to live on your own or of course you can live with someone else. Just remember your mom might not like this and if you chose to still have her in your life, you might want to take this slow with her...good luck!

I see this alot on my husband's side of the family ( Latin). The kids finally get jobs and the mom (single parent) will take the money away. But what she is really doing is paying bills and buying more food because at 17 you eat ALOT more then a kid. I have told my nephews and nieces to sit and talk to their mom's. And explain that you don't mind giving money but that you would like some as well so that you can buy....... And let her know what you need it for. Because in that culture you are spending it on nothing. But i think that if you explain that you are willing to give her some for what ever she needs and you some things will be fine. It worked for our family.
Good luck

Try to get emancipated. That's when you have yourself taken out of the house and you can live on your own. Open up a bank account, if your 17 you should be able to open a savings account. You may need a 100 dollar minimum.

I know what you mean. I had the same problem with my mom for almost 10 years. Let me tell you something. You never asked to be in this world, so parents should never expect ANYTHING from their kids. Of course if they would treat their kids better, they would take care of their parents, before they evern have to ask. Do your homework. Its gonna be difficult moving out, she is gonna try everything to stop you, cause she won't be getting any more money. Don't you have relatives who are different. Where is your dad?

Go to court and divorce her. But there is no way you will be able to live off of 380 a week. You'll need a better job first.

Your becoming a man...and now you must begin to act like one...get a bank account of your own...which Mom has no access to..let Mom know you can give her x-amount of your paycheck but the rest is going into the bank...she has no other option but accept what is offered...Be the man..stand your ground...Moms not being fair.

yes, you can get emancipated, which means that you get to live on your own, as long as you have a job, and she even has to pay you. then get a restraining order on her, so she cant get near you. i did it with my step dad, and now im living comfortably in a 3 bedroom apartment...and im only 16.

you could go to court or contact special services and explain your situation. They might help you get rid of her and get most of your money back...but after that i gues the gov. find you new parents or you do or place to stay or sumthing..
