A Maniacal Messianic Prepares to Fulfill His Destiny
"I have fulfilled my destiny," the president says manically. He has just entered the nuclear launch codes that will trigger World War III. Seconds later, he emerges from a bunker. The Secretary of State squeezes between two soldiers. "Mr. President!" he shouts. "We have a diplomatic solution!"
He smiles. "It's too late," he replies. "The missiles are flying. Alleluia. Alleluia."
The above scene, from David Cronenberg's 1983 adaptation of the horror novel "The Dead Zone," is a classic if slightly preposterous nightmare of a world destroyed by a demented demagogue. Now, incredibly, a lunatic out of a Stephen King movie has brought the United States to the brink of Armageddon.

Sounds like W to me. I've heard that he believes that the current generation is the last one before the apocolypse, so he doesn't need to worry about the future. It would explain his policies on international affairs, the ecology, and the economy.

Back off the crack pipe dude. I wished I somehow could get a dollar for every conspiracy theorist, every wild assertion, and every crazy rant about the Bush administration floated out on this forum. Do you guys sit around, take mind altering drugs and jump on Answers to bash Bush and his evil comrades?

You obviously don't understand the Bush Doctrine. So don't strain any brain cells now...just trot out a candidate half-way decent for 2008.

No, Americans do not understand the Bush Doctrine (not all Americans of course, but definitely a majority). But hey, you should know that...because America also didn't understand why it was a bad idea to vote him in in the first place.

So the Bush doctrine is a combination of a stupid sci-fi novel plot and a character from a B-rate author?

Wow, you must be a real expert.

Go away.
