Very few people with real ability in math and sciences also have the personality type that enjoys teaching... or feels drawn in any way to the teaching profession.

There are some, that are both excellent at math or science, and have received the "calling." You just have to shop around.

I would offer my services as a teacher if you were in my area. I have a degree in Chemistry, with a minor in mathematics. I am currently an analytical chemist with a large corporation. Math and the physical sciences require a teacher whose personal style matches well with the student whom they are teaching. I myself have had a number of good teachers, and in each case, they took exceptional pride in their work. They often spend hours with each student, and ensure that the student learns [not simply memorizes] the material, by having the student solve practical problems. Good luck to you in your search, and let me know if you are in the Raleigh, NC area. I'd be happy to offer my services to you. Thank you.
