walmart has good deal on cpu, keyboard, mouse. monitor sold separately. will wiring work on my old monitor.

Yes it will definitely work with your old monitor. You might want to check on that tower if it has the same end connection on your monitor as well as the same connection in the motherboard. Any Monitor should work just fine with any computers. Don't worry about one thing it will work just fine.

It should. Most computers still have the same monitor connection as in 1998. However, have you checked Dell? You may be able to get a better deal with a monitor, maybe even a flat panel.

Your wiring should work. Since the monitor is older, you might have to install some software for it or the operating system might recognize it as a generic monitor, which is fine too.

It should, as long as the new computer has a regular monitor output and not a digital output.
