Also what is the rule of thumb for how much to sell the music for?

The first thing you'll want to do is get an attorney or a label. You can't just submit music without either one due to RIAA rights. It's all about liscensing.

The only think you can do is, well... first things first go to Hollywood. then you should, depending on what type of music you make you should bring to the studios:

if you are composing orchestrated music then bring in some sheet music
if otherwise... either bring in a cd with some sample songs or a laptop with some sample tracks.
