Being honest can hurt people when they hear thr truth of things. Maybe keeping things that are not such a big deal (like a surprise party or a gift you want to keep from getting out) But yet with the stupid things people do today (cheat, lie, etc.) They get caught up too much in lies that being honest can destroy a relationship that holds them up in life...it might make no sense to us because we havent been through most things. Lieing and things get us in trouble, and we know getting in trouble cause consquences...and every hates consquences! Maybe asking this question could cause people to understand how much we decieve in life...always being honest can be healthy and keep life on track...sometimes

Some people just can't do it! For the life of me I don't understand why you wouldn't want to be honest with the person you love. Really, you can't completely be in love with someone if you could lie/keep a secret from them.

There are many reasons and then just as there are many out there that aren't honest there are those that are and there are as many that can't handle honesty either. Even if you give it to them as nice as you can. each person has there ways about them for good or bad.

for REAL!! honesty isnt even asking much of a person. it should b a given for pete's sake. and i fyou cant b honest like you say from the get go, then u should not b in a relaionship, PERIOD!!! that's not fair to the other person investing time into the relationship

I think people lie in relationships to avoid possible danger like hurting the one they care about, being harshly judged, being dumped, etc.
