Republicans and democrats, liberals and conservatives. Why the fighting?

That is the ideal isn't it.
But the culture has changed, very radically.
When fact and reason end, slogan and name calling begin.
Besides there are diffrences of opinion, its just that most uneducated people only respond to soundbytes without fact or information to back it.
when you get into a soundbyte style of politics, only the greater good is lost.
I want to talk to intellectual opponents who present fact, figures and argue a good case...
when that doesn't happen i take what i get and give as good as i get.

Believe it or not there are some people who can have discussions, disagree, and yet remain civil.
Sadly, Talk Radio Culture has replaced debate with insults. We now think it's okay to simply write off anyone who disagrees with us as being lesser than us. It has since infiltrated friendly conversation, authors write that way, and politicians speak that way to and about each other on the floor.
Politics has never been as "friendly" as nostalgia would have us believe, so looking for differing individuals to hold hands and sing is likely impossible.
That said, I would love to see actual debate - people who believe differently and can back their passion with facts and statistics. Instead we spend our time calling each other "terrorists" and "fascists" and "libtards" (that's a new low).
Personally, I would love to just "quit" politics altogether because I'm so disgusted with the way most people handle it. But I care a little too much about my country to do that.

We all just can't get along in my opinion is because some people are jerks. Why some people are jerks is just because they believe that they are not good at being anything else. I wish there could be peace . All you have to do is believe and some day it will happen no more racist and things like that. Some day I am not sure if it is soon or not but some day in the future there WILL be "World Peace".

I wish people could get along too. wars, fighting, racist, stupidity, its all a waste. peace would be nice. hopefully someday.
