My brothers girlfriend is 16. They have a baby together and currently live with my mother, so she isn't covered by insurance. So..anyhow my question is she recently came to me with a question she felt was emabrrasing. She says she shaves her armpit hair, but even after she shaves them...her armpits still look like they have hair on them..the skin looks shaded almost..people always ask her if she's going to shave her armpits..but she has, there isn't hair on them...it keeps her from wanting to wear sleeveless shirts. I can imagine how this would be embarrasing for a person....But I didn't know how to answer her. Anyone have any suggestions?

The first two sentences were not irrelevant..the point was that she can't ask a doc about it...And I think my brother knows he was too young to have a child..however he is being a responsible individual and taking care of his child and the mother of his child. Thanks for your concern though.

I have issues with darker skin on my elbows and someone told me to cut a lemon in half and just rub my elbow in it for 10 minutes a day or so and they lightened right up, it's just one of those things skin do. There are also skin lightening products, but they contain chemicals which would probably irritate the sensitive armpit area.

I think her best bet is to hell with everyone because it is completely normal. However it bothers her that much try what alot of the girls are suggesting try nair or veet etc. somthing that is going to get the hair from the root not just whats on the serface.

waxing might be painful but will get the job done and think about hair-less pits will last longer!lol

good luck everything will be okay

pamela_d_99 ~~~ your answer was pointless and irrelavent whats done is done she was asking about the armpits not her brother and his baby issues

Alot of us have that dark discoloration under our arms. There are some very fine hairs that you just can't get to with a razor because of the curve of the arm pit.

Why not suggest she try something like Nair or Veet after she shaves to remove those final hard to get hairs.

I know a lot of people whose armpits are dark shaded. I think it's genetic, like some Italians, for example. I agree, perhaps waxing will make a difference, but it won't be pleasant! I hear it gets easier as you get used to it after several times.

if she has dark hair and light skin then the hair folicles are going to be visible even after she shaves because shaving only ges rid of the hair above the skin's surface
try a depilatory cream like nair or veet or try waxing if it bothers her that much

The first two sentences were totally irrelevant. Maybe her skin is dry and ashy. Use some lotion. Tell you brother he is too young to be having babies.

Yes it is pointless and irrelevant. Don't go airing your business if you don't want truthful answers. It's Yahoo questions open for anyone to answer, so I did.

That is the most interesting question ive answered yet. But Lemme think.....tell her to get them waxed. But if theyre shaved then dont worry about them becuase when people that matter, ask, just show em she shaves.

Either its ingrown hair or else it might be because she'e the type whose skin in certain areas in her body darkens during pregnancy.
Avoid pigmentation ointments during pregnancy since her skin might lighten after giving birth but she an try the morrocan bath IF HER DOCTOR SAYS IT OK.
