When the Cheshire Cat disappears (Through the Looking Glass, Alice in Wonderland, etc), what do you suppose is happening and why? Do you have literary citation evidence? Does he just become invisible or teleport or is he going off into another dimension? What's going on?

I bet that he uses the doubt and fear in the person's heart he is talking to to shroud himself. The thing he uses to become invisible is self-doubt. That's what I think at least.

I think the Cheshire Cat was a montage of one dimensional squares that were very very thin. When he chose to disappear, all the squares turned sideways which made him appear to disappear.
