The babysitters I've used have never been on an "hourly" rate. It all depended on how long I was gone. It ranged from like $25-$40. If I was gone for lets say 3 hours, I would pay about $25. If it was more, it was a flat rate of $40.
My babysitters had all been no more than sophomores in High School and were usually recommended by someone.

$5 per hour - but it really depends on what responsibilities you have and the # of kids being watched.
