it always does that. It's based on the size of your baby. But if the ultrasound tech or your dr. tells you how much it's gonna weigh when it's born, don't believe them! I was told with all 3 of my children that I was going to have no larger than a 7lb. baby. 1st child 8lbs 13.5 oz, 2nd 8lbs 4 oz. and 3rd 8 lbs. 12 oz.

A term pregnancy is between 38 and 42 weeks to leave room for human error, the fact that a "best guess" is all we can get/give for a due date. The machine was measuring the baby, length, head circumference, development etc...so your baby is developing very well and is right on track!! The machine uses a 'generalization' to determine weeks, not an exact science.
Congratulations

Is this your first ultrasound? The ultrasound machine is usually a little more accurate than the calendar method/last menstrual period method, but it could be off a bit. There is usually a two week allowance either way for the due date, though. I wouldn't worry about the exact due date. Only a very few women actually give birth on The Day.

My ultrasounds were off by two weeks. That's why it is referred to as an Estimated Date of Delivery. Ultrasounds are not 100% and I have been told by several doctors that yes they can be off by up to two weeks. The earliest ultrasounds are more accurate that the later ones. My midwife didn't believe me when I told her mine was off and because of that, my son was a month overdue! We were very lucky and although he had some pretty server problems at birth, he is now a very healthy 13 month old. Now that I'm pregnant again, my new doctor told me my son was so big because I must have had diabetes, he was 10lbs 4oz by the way. After showing her my records with the negative results on the diabetes testing (from when I was pregnant) she finally took me seriously.

I aggree with answers above. Most of the time the the first due date they give you is an estimate but it really depends on the growth of the baby which the ultrasound can detect more percisely. And in the end I think it's all up to when the baby is ready to pop out.- This is normal- as long as your baby is healthy as you said you have nothing to worry about :)

Your baby's weight can double in the last month, if that's what you're worried about. Keep in mind that the U/S machine is being operated by a human... most of which have been prone to make mistakes now and then. You should consider yourself as being pregnant from the last day of your last period. Count those weeks (should you recall that exact day). 39-41 weeks is pretty average. Take care of yourself!

well thats possible its also possible that your baby is bigger aswell, as long as its healthy tho don't worry too much. when i was 35 weeks my baby was measuring at 36 +1 day in all i think it was like 5 days bigger. my baby is tho bigger it was 7pounds 6ounces. thats due to me being a diabetic, so i'll be induced, they are not really that concerned of my babys health because it is altho big still extreamly healthy, but if i was to go full term then it wud be too big. and being that im diabetic it can cause even more complications. so as long as ur baby looks to be healthy i wudn't worry about it just yet. but pretty much either its bigger or u have ur dates muddled up.

I wouldn't worry about it. They say full term is between 38 and 42 weeks. Give or take a week, depends on the baby's measurements. Maybe your baby had a growth spurt and it threw it into the next week.

I would go by what the doctors say. The machines are made to measure the size of the uterus and fetus to determine how far along you are.

It is highly possible that the machine could be off by a week!
