i use to take the city bus to school and always wondered if i was to stand up in the isle and jump straight up while the bus was moving forward, would i land in the same spot i jumped from or on a different spot?

same spot because you are moving at the same speed of the bus. Now - if you jumped and the bus braked signifigantly then you would land further up on the bus isle. Make sense?

If the bus is moving at a constant speed, you will land in the same spot inside the bus, but a different spot on the Earth.

You would land in the same spot you jumped from.

Consider the same thing on an aeroplane (travelling many times faster than the bus) and you'll realise you must land in the same spot.

Well, it depends if the bus suddenly moved forward really fast, then you'd fing yourself with the luggage. But technically, you'd end up on the same spot because you are moving at the same speed as the bus.
but if you think of it at a different *angle*....
example, u floated (magically) for 5 seconds in the air while the bus moved, you'd end up floating at the end of the buss. but thats only magical...
however, your question is totally mind-turning and makes total sense! but we live in a realistic world...so youd probably end up on the same spot as you started on...its called gravity ;)

You'd land on the pretty much the same spot because you have forward momentum which carries you for the duration of your jump

same spot, you are moving at the same speed as the bus when you first jump

Same spot - the inertia of your body will move you the same distance as the bus.

Probably in a different spot or in somebody's lap if you're not careful. Try it and find out.
