I'm w/ Terry F, you must be lonely and this question means you are screaming for attention. Many participants in this organziation have lost loved ones b/c of drunk drivers. You are free to drink, true, but what does not make sense is getting inside of a vehicle that can basically become an instrumentality of death. If you have a drinking problem I suggest you seek counseling immediately and stay out from behind the wheels of a car.

You'd feel differently if you had lost a child or other loved one to those bastard drunks who think they have a right to endanger peoples lives just so they can party.

A person who drinks and drives has made a conscious choice to wrecklessly endanger other lives so they can get high. I can't see any defense against making that a crime.

You folks who holler about your rights to drink and drive, what the hell are you thinking?? I suppose you'd feel comfortable drinking and flying an airplane, or drinking and driving a bus. How about drinking and performing surgery? Drinking and carrying a loaded gun-that would be cool, right? You all know when you've had enough, right? There shouldn't be any laws telling what you can or can't do after drinking, right? Man, that is stupid. Oh, wait, you're drunk, so how would you know?

The really horrible thing is that drinking drivers almost always have multiple DUI offenses. Usually involving accidents where people were hurt or killed. Yet, the "I WANNA DRINK AND DRIVE" lobby is so strong that you folks can get away with this behavior with hardly more than a slap on the wrist. Every time!

I'm thinking people who drink and drive should be removed from society until such time as they can be certified as realizing how stupid their behavior is and it can be absolutely confirmed that they will not drink and drive again, either jail or mental institutions.

I don't usually go off like this, but more than one person close to me has been the innocent hurt when drunks drive. People have to change their lives to live with the damage drunk drivers do and drunks have to pay a fine and get their peepees whacked in drunk driving school. A few weeks or months and they are back on the road looking for someone else to ruin. It's OK, they know when they've had enough, again. Doesn't seem to bother them enough to stop drinking and driving. I mean, there was no real upset in their lives. If society doesn't think their crimes are bad enough to really do anything about it, then, hey, what the hell, it couldn't be that bad.

That's why cops stop and cite folks who have been drinking because they have to be the brains of the car, since the drunk behind the wheel isn't using their brain. Hopefully, the citation will be issued before someone gets hurt or killed. Those are the best kind. Doesn't always happen that way, though.

I know a few people who have exactly that mentality, getting really upset when people offer to drive them home after drinking. Take their keys away and they'll fight you for them. Stupid.

And there's really nothing can be done until the laws and attitudes are changed and MADD is trying to do that. Is their judgment clouded? I don't think so. Their judgement has been sharply unclouded by tragedy in their lives. They are some of the few people that actually have a good clear picture of how terrible drinking and driving is. I really can't believe drinking drivers are trying to stop them. Stupid, again.

I agree with you 100%. A few years ago, our daughter was out with my husband and I watching a football game at our local restaurant/pub. My daughter had three Coors Lights during the entire evening. We are all very careful about drinking and driving. However, she was pulled over in her car as she was leaving the parking lot. She was barely one point over the legal limit, and received a DUI. It was a terrible time for our whole family with court visits, fines, and an unfortunate loss of license for six months. The laws are ridiculously too strict, and we have MADD to partly thank for that. I looked into what their objectives are, and their entire purpose is to have zero tolerance for any alcohol whatsoever. In other words, folks, if the MADD groups had their way, we would not even be allowed to have one beer and then drive home. As far as I'm concerned, MADD are taking away some basic freedoms we have. There are plenty of other reasons why people have some impairment while driving, like medications, physical conditions, or even just an argument with a spouse or boyfriend. We cannot and SHOULD NOT make our laws so strict in this country that is supposed to have some freedoms. We should all keep an eye on a fanatical group such as MADD and not let them get out of hand.

Its a good thing that they have MADD. Cause there are mothers there without children because of drunks like you! How would it feel if some close to you were killed and you could never talk to them again? Yeah, thats right, you would be MADD too because you lost a loved oe well that is how those mothers feel.So take that DAMM and shove it you over conceited inconsiderate jerk face asss wipe!

If people were responsible after they drank...there probably wouldn't be a MADD.. I think there are more important things to worry about than MADD's power trips....like the war and how bush sucks...and I'm from TX!

What a crybaby!! I hope that you never lose a child or family member to a drunk driver. Maybe then you will know why these people feel the way they do.

They're just more victi-crats imposing their morals upon the rest of us. I'm all for reducing drunk driving, but those cows have vengeance on their minds, too. They should not be setting policy, their judgment is clouded.
