What is the formal name for a tuba player?

I know for flute it is flutist for trombone it is trombonist, but tubaist--it doesn't sound correct. What is it?

Tubist is the official designation. But I would just call him or her the Boss!

VT

p.s. it's spelled "flautist", not "flutist" or "floutist".
