What's the thinking here? I am skepical but La Volpe sounded downright optimistic after the defeat by Portugal. My head says "No Way" but my heart says "Why Not?"

First I'd like to say that I'm NOT a fan of Argentina (they've robbed England twice in The World Cup!!!!)....but as a true football fan, I'd have to say that unfortunately, Argentina has been playing some very fine football recently, and they definitely look like the favourites to win that match. Having said that, as everyone knows, sports can be completely unpredictable at times. I firmly believe that although certain teams/players are favoured to win matches in sporting events, ANY team/player can beat ANY other team/player on ANY given day.....stranger things have happened in the world of sports....Mexico beating Argentina.....unlikely, but not impossible.....it's definitely within the realms of extreme possibility.

I say no... La Volpe needs to sound optimistic so he doesn't get fired. But Mexicans are used to extreme screwups in the World Cup, and Mexico defeating Argentina is something of a reach.
But hey, miracles happen. You'd be amazed at the number of people here praying to the Virgin as we speak for a good result.
Your heart says "why not" because like all hearts here, you really think Mexico deserves better. THat won't necessarily make it so.

Mexico all the way, you poor fans of teams that aren't good enough to beat Mexico will suffer your loss.
