I have already been yo NYC chinatown (very fun w/ all the fake louis vuittons) but i am wondering if there are any in california

go to the garment district in downtown LA and you will be inundated with fake purses and everything else that you can imagine

No, everything is real in California! Trust me.
All kidding aside, there are often knock-offs or fakes even in trusted stores. The street vendors normally have a much higher percentage of fakes, and people who try to sell you something out of the vans or the like usually have fakes. California has tons of fakes, from purses to people (this is not to say there aren't many great, down to earth people there also though).

I got a cute fake Louis in LA's chinatown for $16. The strap started to frey after a few months, but it was cute while it lasted.

All the swap meets have them and in downtown LA there are little shops selling them. There is even a party style business that a lady comes to your house, you invite your friends and she sells them fake designer purses. Seriously, I got invited to such a party last year.
