I don't believe ALL the media reports. I think it is highly possible that some of the undercover agents set the "predators" up. Yet, the majority of these "predators" are FOR REAL. Still, there are always those FEW who are set up. Don't believe all you see on the news, television, radio, etc........If a person is truly a predator, then YES! Put their picture out there! Everyone else needs to know who these people are, so they can protect their own children. However, we put too much trust in to the system they now have, when in reality, the MAJORITY of sexual predators are NOT ON THE REGISTRY. We are misled into believing that the only predators out there are the ones who have been caught. That is only probably 5% of the predators in this country.

I happened to run across the show several weeks ago and I haven't missed an episode since. Forget about the obvious.....that they are sick SOBs who need to spend a long time in jail. Just how stupid are these guys who at times travel over a hundred miles by bus and bring liquor or beer and condoms to homes expecting to have sex with 13-15 year old children. And then they attempt to convince Chris Hansen and the viewers that they traveled all that way just to talk and make friends with these kids. The best part of the entire show is the reaction of these wackos when they walk out of the house thinking they got away with their actions and the police arrest them. Lock them up and throw away the key...........

i think it's absolutely insane that grown men look for little girls, knowing what the consequences are...in most cases, it's sick that they do this sort of thing.
i also think young girls today are, in general, slutty. they are influenced far too heavily by what they see on TV, etc. and their parents have absolutely no control over them because the parents are too busy trying to be cool & be their kids' best friends instead of parents, or either the parents are out getting their freak on at the club, etc.
also, the 26 year old NYC firefighter sounds like he might have been set up...some people say things in "cyberspace" because they feel they are anonymous. it's sad that he lost his job, and i wonder if there wasn't a little more to that story than dateline included, such as, maybe the "girl" entrapped him by letting him believe she was older than she actually was supposed to be in order to get him to expose himself. or he could just be a perv, and i could just be wrong in all cases.
i do think that there are some seriously sick folks out there using the internet, but parents are also partly to blame. they don't monitor or control what their kids do/say online. also, kids these days think it's cool to "explore their sexuality" online, thinking it's anonymous...which is, in a way, a little better than going out and actually "having" sex....but whatever. the world is screwed up as it is!!!!

I think it is a great thing that Dateline did. Our country is ravaged with sexual predators who are preying on our innocent children. Way to go Dateline!

I think these predators need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. BUT i also feel, when a child puts themselves in arms reach of these predators by doing things they are not suppose to, they too should be punished or their parents.

I hope it opened the eyes of parents who allow their kids to use the internet unsupervised. Judging from the no. of kids here who hand out their email addresses and other personal info, many people still haven't gotten the message. They should shut down myspace.com or monitor it closely.
