Yes, but just avoid being flashy. If you don't bring attention to yourself by displaying extravagant items and you don't live in a high crime area, you could have any amount in your home, no one would be any the wiser.

It all depends on what type of security you have and where you want to keep the money. If you want to keep it in your house get a good alarm and set of good locks on windows and doors. Get a strong safe and fix it to the floor and keep it hidden. It also depends what area you live in and the local crime rate. You could contact you local police station and ask your local crime officer on some good security measures. there are lots to consider in securing your hom. For instance keep all ladders locked up and chained against a wall, keep any object that could be thrown through a window away, even a dustbin could be used to climb through a window. Also visit www.upmystreet.com . Here look on the site map and you will see alot of usefull info on your neighbourhood, ie crime rate etc.
Most burgalars are opertunists so any deterant will put them off and they will move to an easier target. Make it hard for them to climb on anything. Put roses and thorny shrubs/plants near fences, keep ALL doors and windows shut and locked. The list goes on and on. If you need some more info feel free to contact me, I own a P.I, securty and Close prduction company so I will be able to give you good sound advice.
Also if you keep cash in your home your insurance company might not cover for the loss of allot of cash, so ask them how much cash you are covered for.
P.S. The best place to keep money is in the bank.

Yes, but put the money into one of those fire proof safes the small ones that cost only $30 bucks then stick that in the freezer if something happens to your house you can still get your money with it burning or getting wet, I say keep about $10,000-$20,000 for emergencies but don't tell anyone you have and don't flash it around.

It is safe, but don't be flashy with it. Do not keep large amounts at home just a max of £250 maybe... have it in a account.. and then you earn interest (not much nowadays but better and safer than at home!)

Yes, but it depends on how much your homeowners insurance policy will replace. I usually keep most in the bank and some at home for emergencies.
Other things to worry about: children or spouse stealing your cash.

Well most home safes have ratings in cash of how secure they are - I think the max is £10,000 cash - but remember - ok someone might not be along to crack your safe - but what about fire - cash isnt usually insured...

It's always good to have a liquid emergency fund. It's suggested that you have 1000 dollars at your disposal. This money should be hidden, and slightly difficult to get to (ex. In a picture frame, lock box). That way you don't dip into it for unnecessary purchases.

Depends. If you live on a remote Scottish island and your house has cast iron doors with seven lever locks then yes.... If you live on a council estate in Byker Grove and leave your front door open then no... the devil is in the detail....
