Me and the father were together for 7 years. We are no longer together. He wants to be there for the child. any other info about unwed father's rights would be helpful.

I don't think he can make you stay in the same town. It would be up to the two of yall to make an agreement on visitations. If you don't put his name on birth certificate, he would have a hard time with visiting the child without you there. You can talk to a lawyer about that for free. Check the web sites, all kinds of them

if you have filed for child support thru the court of where you currently live, then you have to re-file again in the new county you're movin to, first of all. the father does have right, but they are limited as far as i know. then again it does change state to state. my fiance can only see his daughter every other weekened durin the winter. and 6 weeks durin the summer. and the child support gets taken out of his pay check before taxes. you're best bet is to call the court house in the new city you're movin to and find out what policy they have when it comes to the father's rights. do the same where you currently live and ask if there's anythin he can do to prevent you from movin out of state. i dunno why you guys broke up or on what terms you're on now. but i advise to let him see his kid when he wants. he's the father and every kid needs a father just as much as they need a mother
