Here's the deal. I'm seriously asking, and expect a serious answer. I don't want an answer from someone who has jumped on a bandwagon without thinking about it saying "go for it". I also don't want an answer from someone who has taken into all the government propaganda without seeking the truth themselves. I want an answer from someone who has done it at least once, and why, and why they might have stopped. What are the legal implications? I am in my mid-twenties, and very responsible. I am seeking to do this maybe once or so in the privacy of my own home for relaxation/experimental purposes.

I have tried it and occasionally do it - like 4 times a year or so. It is not illegal to consume it in the country I live in (which is in Europe). However, it is illegal to possess it. If the police catches you with just a bit of cannabis in your pockets they will not prosecute you.

It depends on the intensity of the marijuana. My friend told me that the cannabis in the US is much weaker than the one that you can buy in Europe.

I have tried it and it is a bit like being drunk but in a lighter way, and eventually after half an hour or so you will only be relaxed and tired. No hangover involved. Consuming cannabis makes you hungry. Most of the time you will feel the desire for something sweet.

It does not make you physically addicted if you occasionally smoke / consume it. But if you did it every other night and suddenly stop you will sweat more easily in the first days and feel a bit grumpy, but that's it. One can become mentally addicted though. If you do it every other night you can get used to being relaxed too much.

But we are talking about just doing it once or a couple of times, right? So I'd say: try it. It tastes really nice and I lke the feeling of relaxition or the stupid ideas you suddenly have. It is very inspiring and not frightening at all. Just make sure you do it at home or in a friendly surrounding. NEVER MIX IT WITH ALCOHOL! This will give you a hangover you won't forget to quickly.

And please note: sometimes the consumption of cannabis has no effect at all if people take it for the first time.

And never ever try that other hard stuff!!!

Have fun!

I haven't had it but I know plenty that have. It wrecks your brain, is associated with scizaphrenia, is expensive and sucks the money out of families that can't afford it, it gives you a 'lay back attitude to life man' or in other words you don't give a s--t about anything and laugh at stuff that isn't even funny. When people know you have it they turn up expecting to 'score' your dope 'cos they've smoked all there own and can't afford to buy any.

You only have one body and it gets polluted enough through living with all the poisons this 21 century gives us, why go out of your way to tax your system futher? It can expose underlying psychiatric problems. If you have an addictive personallity you will get addicted. Hydroponics and genetic engineering has seen to produce a much more potent plant than was around 30 yrs ago.

Legal implications - It is illegal. You can get fined or go to jail depending on how much you have in your possession. Then you will have a police record. This can exclude you from certain future employment opportunities.

If you do go ahead with it as a one off thing simply for the experience, have a trusted friend there with you because you could have a bad reaction and might flip out. Only have a very small cone and see what happens.

This is a personal decision for you. What are your reasons for wanting to try it? And if you are in your 20's what has kept you from trying it before?
Anyway, you wanted a serious answer and I have enough experience with the subject to give you one. In my experiences I have always enjoyed it. I have been smoking for a long time and I find it stabilizes my mood swings, opens my mind to greater creativity, and puts a grin on my face even on the worst of days. I am all for the legalization of this substance (to me it is not a drug). From my personal experience and from how I've seen it help others with either eating disorders or cancer- most of all I see is good.
I also finished college in the top 10% of my class, so all the stories about how stupid it makes you are mostly false. Sure their are those people who only sit on their couches and smoke away all day- those are the ones the stories are about.
In moderation there is nothing wrong with the substance. And as long as you are sitting in your house and not out driving around somewhere, everything should be fine.
I am not going to tell you to do it or not to, because I am not you. But you might like it. :)

You want a serious answer yet you post this under entertainment? Hmmm.

I don't think you should.

If it is 'just to have done it once' it is not worth it. And I'm not even talking legal risk here. It is absolutely no fun... what so ever. You need to get used to it to enjoy it. If you are going just this once just skip the event. It just will be disappointing.

Legal part: It very much depends on where you live. Even per county... even per arresting officer you are or are not in trouble. Officially you are looking at 1 to 5 hard labor but it (almost) never comes to that.

I started smoking pot at 13, and I don't regret doing it, because I never got into any serious trouble, but I'm glad that I don't smoke today. Today in Massachusetts, where I live, possession is a felony, that means that aside from the possible jail time, if you ever go to a job interview you have to disclose this felony, and most companies that I've dealt with would consider that grounds for not hiring you, or if you are currently employed then that is grounds for termination. If you want to try it be my guest. It is fun, but it made me think too much about all the crap in my life that I didn't want to think about. It isn't "addictive" so you won't have to worry that you'll be hooked after one haul. Most people I know, myself included, didn't get high the first time they smoked, so if you smoke and nothing happens it's not because you did it wrong, or it wasn't good weed. I'm glad I don't smoke today because I'm married and a mother and I have so much stuff to do that requires me to have clear thinking, I'd rather not have clouded thought, and I've learned that I don't need to be high to enjoy life, I have my family.

I don't see anything wrong with smoking pot. Even though people say it's a gateway for harder drugs it is not nessesarally true I smoke pot and I have no desire to try other drugs. It can be addictive I notice if I go a few days without it I tend to get edgy. I'm not sure why I started I guess it was peer pressure when I was younger, although I did stop for years until I met someone who smokes on a regular basis and started again. My advice is to try it at home where you will be safe, until you know how to handle yourself when you are high.

Good luck and enjoy!

I have tried it before, it can have different effects in different people. Most people just get relaxed and lazy. The desire for snack consumption could increase. Prolonged use can affect short term memory.

Legal aspects kind of depends on what state you're in. In Calif, if you get caught with like one joint, I think the most the cops will do is laugh at you while they dump it in the dirt or watch you flush it. Maybe you can get the equivalent to a traffic ticket, not real sure.

You know what go ahead & try it...I did it once & I didn't like it mostly because I don't like feeling like I'm not in control of myself or having an altrered sense.....but it isn't as harmful as Cocaine or Heroin....But I would sugest that if you are going to do it get it from someone you know & trust so that you can know for sure that it isn't laced with anything & do it with people you know & trust or just do it alone, but I fear all possible ways because I always think about "what if there's a fire"? Things like that but there are many functioning addicts that can handle it & a real life outside that world at home....But it's all up to you....

The reason why I tried it the first time was I wanted to understand what it was my friends saw in it. I couldn't be critical of them for smoking it until I experienced it myself. Also, I was simply curious about it. With propaganda comin at me from all sides (positive and negative) I wanted the opportunity to make my own decision.

IMO, there are pros and cons to marijuana. Not real sure if one side outweighs the other.

You'll never know till you jump in and start swimmin.

ive tried it before and no i wont recommend it to you. why? coz it kills time. time that you could have spent on more important things like family and friends and sex. it is habit-forming like smoking and alcohol. now if it's just a one time good time, then go ahead but bear in mind the risk of acquiring a habit. have a nice day
hey, tom bombadill is a jrr tolkien character, right?
