Since my job search isn't working very well i just pondered what if i became homeless all of a sudden . I wouldn't want to remain homeless forever. so what do you think, without support of family, friends or even society, can a homeless man regain his life , get a job and live in a house/apartment? I see many homeless in the street and they seem to stay like that and don't seem to try to change. but i know maybe some tried alot and failed and just gave up later.. so what do you think?

I got off the streets and now live in a nice house, ride a new '05 Harley...if you want it bad enough you can make it happen.
You just need to have the determination and drive to make it happen.

I did. I was homeless in Miami 1997-99.

Many people are living just two paychecks from being homeless, Loss of a job, a roommate, break-up of a relationship, or a serious injury or illness can lead to homelessness. Many are looking for a hand up, rather than a handout.

More people are homeless due to mental illness rather than alcoholism or addiction. It is often something easily treated such as anxiety or depression, but these conditions are intensified by homelessness and make it more difficult for these people to get off the streets.

My landlord/roommate died after a lengthy battle with cancer. I inherited half the house along with a family member, but we had no idea how heavily the owner had been in debt. We were forced to sell just to break even. I ended up living out of my car and lost my job. When my car broke down, I had no choice but to sell it for less than $100.

Without a phone or address, it is almost impossible to land a job.

Help for the homeless varies from state-to-state, city-to-city. Miami is one of the worst as far as social services go.

I never thought it would happen to me.

I know that it's possible. I think the one reason that most homeless people end up homeless is because they don't want to swallow their pride and admit that the need help. I am not saying this is you but even flipping burgers for $8 an hour is better than being homeless. I wish you luck in your search and hope you while it may be less than what you are used to making, any job is better than NO job.

I'm 25 and i was living on the streets for a few years, and i was able to raise above it, i have a good job now and am planning on going to school for massage therapy as soon as the school opens here. Its all a matter of will, if a person wants it bad enough they (the homeless) can pick themselves up

Instead of contemplating the choice to be homeless, swallow your pride and take any job for now. Even if it means working in a fast food joint. Any job and any roof over your head would be better than being homeless. Maybe you need to give up your home and move into a cheaper lodging I dunno but the last thing you should think of is choosing to be homeless. wtf are you nuts or what? Quit with the f-ing pity party already and get your *** off the damn yahoo answers site and keep looking. You're wasting time on here and no job is going to walk up to you -you have to go and get it. So get going.

There are so many programs in place that if someone truly wants to change thier situation in life, they have that oppurtunity.

Many of the homeless in our society have mental health problems, drug and alcohol addictiions or have chosen to be that way because they want to "disappear" rather than contribute.

If one wanted to return to society and sought out the rescources that would help him, yes I believe he could change and eventually become a sucess.
