You can go to the community college and take a test which will measure your interests, skills, and personality type and then give you a list of careers that you would be suited for. It will tell you what the financial prospects are for those jobs and also the competition.
Add into that the question, what do I think about doing the most,
what would I be most happiest doing, and what has the least potential for burnout.
All the best to you, what ever you choose, you will be a benefit to others.

Your interests sound like they'll serve you well, but you need education to acquire skills to back them up. A college degree in the liberal arts will teach you foundational skills, like critical thinking and communication, that'll maximize your interests. It's not enough to love to read-- you've got to be able to do something productive with that knowledge.

The same goes for art. You may want to look into social work. A new big thing is art therapy.

But don't let anybody downplay the importance of at least a Bachelor's degree-- astute learners pick up more than how to write a 5 paragraph essay.

Good luck.

Sounds like you would be a great teacher. You might also think about becoming some kind of therapist. Some therapy now involves art therapy and animal therapy...especially child phychologist. And a veterinarian might also be a good choice.

Any career dealing with animals, since you have a certain empathy, you might even consider training animals for therapy work. Puppy raising for therapy and assistance dogs would definitely be up your alley (provided you live in a house with a fenced yard). Writing and/or illustrating animal stories might work for you too.

Animal trainer or pet boarder.

Best guess is to take a Meyers-Briggs aptitude test. It can give you some guidance based on many factors, like what you want to wear at work, if you want to work in our outdoors, if you are mechanically-inclined or office-inclined or whatever. Go to your local college placement center and take the test. It's about $10 bucks at my university.
