Well..i answered your other question to, so here I'll give a different response.
It IS a crush, and I'm 100% certain. How do I know that? Because love is something that builds and grows over a long time as you really get to know someone. If you haven't been dating, you haven't even begun to really get to know who he is.
Right now you are just very interested in him. That's a crush.
Now..my other answer presumed you were dating someone who wasn't interested, so here's my question for you - does he know you are interested in him?
If he doesn't, then it makes sense to test the waters a bit by flirting. As someone else said, also try to look your best around him.
What do you two have in common? Is there something he likes to do that you do to? Use that to start a conversation and if it goes well, give him a chance to ask if you want to hang out. If that doesn't happen right away, give it some time. He might just be shy.
IF he then begins to seek you out to talk, that means he's interested too. Then you can take it a step further and see if he'd like to hang out after school. You can be as subtle as "here's my phone number, call me if you want to hang out."
And if he responds? Good for you! Just don't rush it. Having a big crush can make you do stupid things. Don't. It won't win him over. Guys don't respect girls that make it too easy.
And if he doesn't? Then move on. You haven't risked too much and there WILL be other boys. Trust me on that one.

It's a crush. Just trust everybody. If in 6 months you're not over him, I would call it obsession. I don't think it can be love until he likes you back.
