where you can have a proper tattoo done? I dont mean any crappy little back street place! I want to know where in HAMPSHIRE, ENGLAND you can get a good tattoo done, in a place that is hygenic, safe and professional? I live near Southampton so it would be great if i didnt have to travel too far!

ask around! if you see someone in your area whos tattoos you like ask them where they were done...make sure you research the shop/ artist you decide on. make sure they are clean ( as well as their shop), proffessional, and using safety precations ( gloves, sterilization, make sure they open the tattoo needles in front of you so that you know they are clean) and just make sure you are comfortable with the artist...ask them questions- they dont mind = )

go to the tattooists in the area some times the little back street ones are better than the big ones :) always ask to see photos of what they have done in the past... a good tattooist will usually have these either in the waiting room/tattooing area or both :)... if the don't have any or only have them on a computer then go else where as anyone can download tattoo pics from the net:) hope this helps
oh and replying to the poster above anyone with 150 quid can get a certificate it means nothing... same goes for piercing too the licence is just bought from the local council oh and your friend will need to realise that a cover up will need to be bigger and darker that what she already has :)

it's a bit out of your way but there's a place in Aldershot called under the skin I've had all my recent piercings done there and it's very hygienic, couple of friends had tats done there and there good quality.

You sound a bit indecisive!!!!

Start with a henna tattoo and see how that feels.
