Your temperature will rise while you are ovulating. Start taking your temp every morning assuming you are not sick. Write them down. When you start to see an elevation in your temp you are getting ready to ovulate. It does not matter if you have a lower basal temp or a normal basal temp this will work. Those three days after your temp starts to elevate is when you are most fertile. Safe days are the 1st 8-10 days after your menstrual cycle has finished(remember life activites can change this), providing you are a normal 28 day cycle. 7day period, 7 day nothing going on, 7 days preparing the walls of uterus with lining, 7 days getting ready to ovulate and ovulating. Then it starts all over again. But if you are not a normal 28 cycle you have to be a little more cautious if you do not want to get pregnant.

It depends on your menstrual cycle. Ovulation always occurs mid cycle. If your menstrual cycle is indefinite, then always minus 14 days from your duration of cycle (e.g. 28 days cycle - ovulation day is the 14th day). One week before & one week after the ovulation day is considered FERTILE period. Period other than this fertile period in a menstrual cycle is considered as SAFE PERIOD. Just bear in mind that the sperm can last up to 5 days!

Fertility monitoring is a practise for determining when a woman can best conceive.

Using it as a form of birth control is also possible, but it isn't as simple as checking out a web site. Every day for six months you check your body temperature, your mucous, and other physical symptoms you have to train yourself to recognize. If you are Roman Catholic, your church family service will have an entire course for married couples to attend together once a week for six weeks.

Without an established cycle, a lot of study, a certain level of maturity, and a stable relationship, there really aren't any "safe" days.

Sorry if you were looking for something simple, but the people who gave you simple answers to this question are putting your health in danger.

You will ovulate or produce egg around 14 days after the first day of menstrual cycle(starting period). Your fertile days are "after" the 14 day time span after you start. This is a tricky method of b/c and you should use some type of contraception..

The only sure way to tell if you are fertile or not is to take one of those ovulation kits and you will be able to tell then. You can also chart your temperature. Your temp should stay around the same temp all month long except for when you are ovulating. When your temp starts to spike (not uncomfortably high) then you will be ovulating and you are not safe.

Try on the 10th day of your cycle. When you have an egg white liquid you're fertile. Good luck.

Safe days mean only "days in which I'm least able to get pregnant." You can always get pregnant! Protection!
