Republicans try to be as insulting and condescending as possible to win a point or to shoot down a good point. That incites feelings of rage in many people all over the world. Could be wars are started just because Republicans in power refuse to listen to anyone else and speak in such a manner. Ann Coulter is a perfect example.

Don't go to the "All republicans..." place it puts you in with all the "Why do all liberals..." people. Having said that I would say the the most prominent neocons media spokespeople ARE insulting, condescending, nasty, sarcastic, etc. They are making money by getting like minding people to listen and watch their shows and buy their books. They love to use hyperbole (gross exaggeration as favorite tactic.

Your statement is very true. Republicans do incite rage, especially with liberals such as yourself. Rage is generated when any thoughts, ideas, speeches contradict the liberals positions. Why do these things incite rage? It is because the liberals do not have any creative ideas that will move this country forward. It is because the liberal behavior does not mirror the liberal positions. It is because the liberals want to create more government to "take care" of the masses that obviously can't take care of themselves.
Ann Coulter IS a perfect example. Why do you think the liberal democrats want to ban the sale of her book in New Jersey? Once again, the libs want to support free speech, the first amendment, until it doesn't reflect what they agree with....
Mr. Lib.... if you take a good look at your party, find and examine the "real truth", you might understand why your party is in the minority, and will stay that way.

If Republicans incite rage, starting with Ann Coulter, then the problem is you, not the GOP. "Rage", really?

Democrats are no bastions of tact and civility. I really was amazed at how the personable previous president and wife could so deftly vilify people in opposition to them. But when saying others were engaged "in the politics of personal destruction" they were meanwhile viciously impuning or destroying reputations of people who had done no wrong.

When, in previous years (and this cracks me up to this day) the GOP congressional leadership reduced the rate of growth for school lunch subsidies, the Democrats accused them of starving children. When they lightened restrictions, while still keeping them stricter than much of the time while Democrats were in power, Republicans were suddenly poisoning water and killing babies--an astounding thing in its own right how Democrats are so protective of children who are born, but before those children's heads pass the final threshold of the mother's birth canal, they are no more than warts that can be aborted on a woman's whim.

I was expecting budget sensibility of the elected officials in the GOP, but got deficits and overspending galore. I was expecting law and order but something like 10 percent of the population of Mexico illegally moved here, much of it during a time of comparatively high unemployment (which is not what we have now). The modern-day slave traders abandon their Latin brothers and sisters in dry deserts or packed like sardines in truck trailers parked and locked along side roads as they broil in the sun. This happened during the Democrat watch as well, but should have stopped when the 'party of law and order' took over.

So, don't get me wrong, I'm not happy with the GOP, but not enraged when they open their lips because the Democraps seem more than capable of saying far stupider and hypocritical things than most Republicans imagine. Rage? No.

Still, from my opinion, as the old saying goes, "A pox on both their houses!"

Although your argument holds true for many if not most republicans, there are others who appear neither insulting nor condescending. I know at least one who has over the last few months changed his mind from ultra-conservative republican to saying that the GOP is out of control and who accepts the 9/11 investigation is incomplete and seems suspicious in its omissions.
However, what you say is in general true. The reason being the kind of people the GOP attracts. The GOP is truly a party of rich, ruthless people. however, there are not many of that kind, so if it relied solely on that base it wouldn't win any elections. Now the policies of the "rich, privileged and ruthless" leadership doesn't benefit everyone. It benefits their own class. But how do you sell your point of view to others so that they will vote for you?

Surely you can't sell your ideology to an educated person who can think for himself/herself, because they will see right through the policy and realize that behind the smoke and mirrors is a policy which is very narrow in focus benefitting only a select minority. So obviously they will not support you. As such they can't be your other base.

So who are the people who will not be able to see through your policies and discover the hidden agenda? Someone who has the habit of not thinking for himself, someone who is a trusting person. An easy target are people who are religious, not with much education. They are a trusting bunch. They trust what their pastors say. They are more likely to trust what the government says. And if you can combine your political message with a religious message then its all the more effective. Are these people inherently bad people? No. They are just a group of people who do not like to think about everything. They are satisfied with their weekly paycheck, groceries and their church. They do not want to be troubled by having to think about every little thing. They are simple people. And they like to think that there is a god who looks after them, there is a bishop who prays from them, there is a government who cares for them.

Education makes a person less trusting, because it makes you more aware and makes you question things before accepting. If you can read you would want to read the contract before signing when you go for that loan. If you can't read, you still have to sign the contract and you still need the loan, so you sign it anyway assuming the lender isn't out to get you.

The republican leadership knows this. So they target the super rich, and lure them with tax breaks and other financial rewards and at the same time they target the uneducated and faith based dogmatic people who they lure with religious promises. See the difference, they actually reward the rich but only promise to the poor.

Is there a solution? Yes. Education always works wonders. But well, even there the GOP leadership wants to make sure that people don't get a good education so they want to muddle their thoughts with religion (intelligent design, prayer etc).

This is quite the vicious circle. How does it end? I don't know. But although they teach "intelligent design" in the schools the republicans seem to like the theory of "survival of the fittest" as applied in an economic sense. So if you sit back and watch, you will see these poor people losing the battle of life and dwindling while the rich and privileged benefit from it. In time this automatic feedback would correct the system by itself. When the poor and uneducated have succeeded in eradicating themselves the rich and privileged will have no base to go to. You can't help those poor souls. Just help yourself. Keep your ideals alive, keep your head low, work for your own good. Eventually when their base disappears and they become weak, get up and take over.

Not all Republicans incite rage. Just the ones in power. When you say things like "Let's Git Them" you not only sound like an old western movie but you sound aggressive. Bush and his minions have a tendency to shoot first and ask questions later! Sounds like a bad western to me. I think that all intelligent people experience rage when then are talked down to . Once you can forgive, twice you get angry and by three you are in a blind rage that such stupidity represents the American people. Even countries that were our Allies can't stand us. Sad. God weeps---

In all honesty, not all republicans. In fact, some republicans made good presidents. They were respected, until the rise of the Reich-Wing Cancervatism. It started with two failed attempts to get into office, Nixon and Goldwater. But by the time of Nixon's new attempt in office (Lyndon refused to run a second term), he had gotten the majority of voters. He had earned the respect and votes of the southern style Democrats (what we know as Klansmen) and big money, not to mention people against the war. Then it went to "Oatmeal Man" Gerald Ford, who quickly lost to Carter, who quickly lost to Rey-Gun. Reagan was first elected in a so-called landslide, 26% of the American vote. Carter got 21%, and the other parties put together got 2%. Now, do the math. How many American voters does that exclude? And based on that, especially since a large enough chunk of the population cannot vote, doesn't that moreso mean he was voted in by, for instance, less than 15% of the American vote? In later news, after Rey-Gun did his damage, Bush Sr. got in, but lost office to Bill Clinton. The Cancervatives were all over him. They couldn't stand seeing him in office and just bitched and moaned until they could get him on something. Then it happened. He lied about having sex with another woman (can you name a man that wouldn't lie?) and the malignantly Cancervative Congress moved to impeach him. After that little stint came Dubya, and the rest is history. So not all republicans are bad. People like Eisenhower, T. Roosevelt, and people like them, I respected. But now, the name Republican has been ruined by the cancerous growth that is the Reich-Wing.

I don't think it's fair to say that it's just Republicans. All politicians have their own agenda, and they don't want to have to listen to other people. Our government was created such that we would have a balance of power, but if one party is running every branch, where is the balance?

I DO agree, though, that a lot of our right-wing Republicans have been very good at ignoring the cries from the American people. It's going to eventually cost them support... I wish that I had more of a say in what happens with our country... but if you have something to say, and you want to affect change, DO something about it, don't just b**** about it online.

Ann Coulter is a poor excuse for a human being and the fact that people keep buying her books and even talking about her (like I am now...I know it's hyprocrital) makes me nauseous. The sad thing though is that there are people out there who ingest this garbage and acutally side with her. Sickening

Ann Coulter is an author and political pundit....you are giving her too much credit. For every Ann Coulter, there is a Michael Moore...and I highly doubt anyone outside of the US cares about them...or even knows who they are.

ann coulter is pretty far right. way far right. come on, that is like saying all democrats are tree-hugging, abortion loving liberal leftists. i am a conservative republican, and find myself listening to air america (trying not to pull my hair out), so i can hear the other side from the other side, and not a spun version of it. republicans in power must listen to the people if they want a prayer of getting reelected.
