I find myself full of anger at the fact that we, the American public, who are suppose to actually be in charge of this Country can't effect much of anything. While the government debates Gay marriage, gas prices go to insane levels and those who were on the brink of poverty are now having to make a choice (especially in small towns like mine where public transporation is not avaliable). Do I spend money on gas to go to work to make money to feed my family or do I spend the money to feed my family and not on gas, don't go to work, lose my job and become welfare or worse? Its' happening. But our government still thinks Gay marriage is a more important debate at the moment. (important, but not at the moment)

FYI, I hate smokers b/c its disgusting and it gives ppl cancer and I HATE cancer. Bottle water is frivolous. I live on old farm land in a nowhere place in Virginia, paying rent to my parents b/c with a teachers salary and my dad's 10 an hour job, plus gas prices I feel that helping my parents make payments on their morgage on land that has been in our family for generations is important. Judgement is always one sided my friends.

At first yes, I did feel helpless. I mean I am a single mom and its hard enough making ends meet. But you learn to make adjustments in other financial aspects to accommodate the rising gas prices. I totally understand where you are coming from, but we have to deal with it right? I guess we don't have to-but what else are we going to do? Just like you said, would we rather be able to provide for our families and end up getting bitten in the but because of the financial struggle or get fired or quit and live off of the state for the rest of our lives? I guess for me, I am way to proud to have to live off of the state the rest of my life, therefore I deal with the rising prices in EVERYTHING. I hope all works well for you!

The oil companies , like all business ,are going to make the largest possible profit they can that's the American dream .The government has nothing to do with the price of gas-unless you look at the federal gas tax, implemented by Clinton but to be fair Bush hasn't gotten rid of it.
The big question is why are we not using the resources we have in our own country-in Andalusia Alabama Shell oil discovered the largest oil reserve found in the last 30 yrs. They tapped it off-Crenshaw County Alabama-oil-tapped off.you want to get the oil co. hit them where it hurts-the pocket-car pool, don't buy gas on Sunday( One day alone will cost them millions) .there are things that can be done now while waiting on alternative oil. I live in a small town (one store and a post office)no transport other than your car or 4 wheeler, you can conserve.

Gas prices are high. Yes. But they are not so ridiculous that you shouldn't be able to feed your family AND fill your tank. A lot of people need to rethink the cars they are driving. Yes, you look very powerful in your Expedition, but if it's costing you 80 bucks a week to fill up your tank, it might not be a good idea. Get a Honda. They get great mileage and they run forever.

I totally agree. I am 27 and live on my own. Between a mortgage, a car payment, skyrocketing utilities, gas prices, and taxes, they make it almost impossible to survive here. I keep saying NJ sucks, but I am sure this is all over the country. I am moving to Canada!!

How much driving do you do? Drive less... it's pretty simple. If you job is 90 miles away then move closer. But honestly what are the extra expenses(cigarrettes, beer, etc.) that you force yourself into grim or grimmer situations. You can only spend what you bring home. You either need a job that you make more per hr. or work more hrs. When I was making less money per hr. I worked a second job. Now that I make more per hr. I only work one job and I'm doing fine.

Tell the democrates to get out of the way and let us drill for AMERICAN oil !!
The inviro-whacos own the democrates!
We haven't been able to drill new wells, build refineries, pipe lines, ect. for years.
Who's pushed for higher taxes on gasoline for years, the democrates.
You pay more in fuel taxes per gallon than the oil companies make in profit.
Oh,yes, GAY MARRIAGE, who's for it ?
The democrates, many of whom are sexualy confused anyway.

I dont know how much gas costs in USA, but I tell you what it`s here in Europe:

(1 liter 1,35 euros)

Isn`t it like over double what the american citizens pay?
