No Doctors get these samples for free. The cost of these free samples are built into the price you pay as advertiseing. The doctors do get a small percentage kick back on the prescription price as insentive to write prescriptions. The selling of drugs is such a smooth operation that Doctors are made to feel that they are not giving patient the best standard of care if new drugs are used. By example some of the treatment for arthritis are no more effecive that ibuprophen or a half glass or red wind can be effective for some heart conditions. You need to ask your Doctor about alternatives to the the recommended therapy.

The answer is, at this point, pharmacuetical companies are no longer giving "perks" to physicians for handing out free samples.

At one time, there was a large amount of money being spent on selling physicians on the idea that a phramacy company's new product was better than anyone elses, however, with the changes in advertising laws, the money which was spent on trips for doctors, free food etc, is now being used to advertise on TV, and in magazines and newspapers.

Why do you ask? Are you not interested in trying medication that may help your condition for free? or would you rather be gouged at the pharmacy? I'll take free samples any day. Who cares if the doctors get there free lunches and office supplies!

Yes. They used to get big rewards for pill pushing, but they have scaled back on that now. The doctors still get kick backs, but they are not as big.

Yes they do as drbenny stated, and it angers the c-r-a-p out of me, they take advantage of patients to pad their own pockets, it is corrupt and morally wrong.
