There are always prophesies about the world ending. When one doesn't come true and time passes on then society starts looking for the next clue - or the old prophecy is reinterpreted! I think science beats them all, since they predicted that if we did not change our ways the Earth would make us suffer. Now we are seeing its true - though science says we are too late to change anything now. I guess we'll see who was right when the time comes! I think the world will end just as science says, by catastrophic global changes, and that will happen on a big enough scale to finally end us all on the date the Mayan calender runs out...... :) Or it could be 6-26-06...who knows?!!

In the meantime check out this prediction: http://www.theworkofgod.org/Pope/saint_malachy_prophecies.htm

A lot of people posting on this site misunderstand the Mayan Long Count's 13 Baktun event, thinking it means the end of the world when it actually means the beginning of a new era. This is the 12-21-2012 date you've probably heard of (also incorrectly stated as 12-12-2012, 12-20-2012 and 12-23-2012).
Read "Maya Cosmogenesis 2012" by John Major Jenkins for a lot more on this subject. Read my 2012 article on my Jaguar Nights blog or my regular website for other information on that day.

IN Knaresburgh, Yorkshire, England, there used live an old woman hermit. She predicted that when the bridge across the river at Knaresburgh collapsed three times, the world would end! Her name was Mother Shipton. I've seen the cave where she lived

Funny you should ask that...I'm just now reading about the Mayan calender system.
On Dec.21st, 2012, their 'Long cycle' will end(similar to 1999ad becoming 2000ad). There are lots of sites out and about that like to say that this means the end of the world(as we know it). What nearly ALL of them FAIL to include though, is that the Mayan calender actually goes on until 4775ad.(starting from 3114bc, btw) Google it and have a read - theres some interesting stuff to find out about it! (and if you're into referencing your material, dates, places and such...you may come up with some *very* interesting things...)

Hope this helped!

BTW, the Mayan calender isn't 'perfect', just the most accurate to date...(no pun intended!)

;)

try the prophecy of st. brendan.

there are always predictions that the world is about to end 'any time now'. mormons and jehovah witnesses are usually reliable sources.
