Tales About Pregnancy
If the fetal heart rate is under 140 beats per minute (BPM), it's a boy.
False. A baby girl's heart rate is usually faster than a boy's, but only after the onset of labor. There's no difference between fetal heart rates for boys and girls, but the rate does vary with the age of the fetus. By approximately the fifth week of pregnancy, the fetal heart rate is near the mother's - around 80 to 85 BPM. It continues to accelerate until early in the ninth week, when it reaches 170 to 200 BPM and then decelerates to an average of 120 to 160 BPM by the middle of the pregnancy. Normal fetal heart rate during labor ranges from 120 to 160 BPM for boys and girls.
Extra weight out front means a girl; weight around the hips and bottom indicates a boy.
False. If a woman has a short torso, there's no place for the baby to grow but out. A long torso may mean roomier accommodations for a baby, making it less likely for a woman's belly to bulge outward. And a wide belly may just mean that the baby is sideways.
If a woman's carrying low, it's a boy; if a woman's carrying high, it's a girl.
False. If a woman's carrying high, this may be her first pregnancy or her body's in good shape. Stomach muscles have a tendency to become more elastic with each pregnancy, so a belly that's seen more than one pregnancy may hang a little low.
Dark nipples indicate a boy.
False. This color change has nothing to do with the sex of the child - an increase in progesterone (a steroid hormone secreted by the placenta and ovaries) and the melanocyte-stimulating hormone (which regulates skin pigmentation) causes dark areas of the body to become more pronounced in most pregnant women. Nipples, birthmarks, moles, or beauty marks may appear darker during pregnancy. A dark line also may appear down the middle of the belly. Called the linea nigra (black line), it runs from above the navel to the pubic area. Darkened areas usually fade soon after childbirth.

Ok well I am the mother of 3 and 28 weeks prego now. I have 2 boys and a girl and the baby inside me is a boy! I have carried all of my children the same, high. The only difference for me, when I was pregnant with my girl, BABY HAD BACK! lol I had me a booty! But then I delivered and I lost it. lol....... The heartrate thing has also been correct for me. If the heartrate was below 140 it was a girl and it was.....140 and up.....boys.....and they were (are). My pregnancy now, the heartrate is 150's and he's a boy! My fiance is Cuban, and in their culture they do the butterknive, and scissors test. You go into another room and someone else puts the scissors under one cusion of the couch and the knive under a different cusion. You enter the room and take a seat. If you sit on the knive it's a boy, if you sit on the scissors its a girl. I did this 2 times with 2 different members of the family and both times I sat on the knive. lol....... another thing that I have found to be accurate.....and it's funny but..... the chinese calendar. You take your age and the month that you conceived and look it up on the calendar and it'll tell you boy or girl. Have fun! good luck

Let's see ----- I believe I've heard
1) that If a baby is being carried lower it's a boy and
higher it's a girl.
2) that girls are all in front like basket balls and boys tend to spread out more around the whole middle section.
3) Heart rate is higher it's a boy - lower it's a girl
4) And then there's that old test where you thread a needle - you put the needle in the eraser end of a pencil - then you hold the string from the top and let the pencil dangle over the woman's wrist - if the pencil swings front to back its a boy - side to side it's a girls (or visa versa) --- it's supposed to tell you how many children you are going to have - what order you are going to have them in (boy or girl). It worked w/ me, but I think its all psychological.

I am now 36 weeks preg. with my 3rd baby. When I first started to show, my neighbor, who is from Mexico told me I had gotten a little bit of love handles and nothing else(I'm ALL baby) so it meant I was having a girl. Well, we've had numerous ultrasounds saying it's a boy so, so much for that, eh?! Also, I am carrying very low and my mom, who is from Panama said that made her certain it's a boy. Let's see....my other two were girls and their heartbeats were fast but...so is the little man's! LOL OH! Last one I remeber is this: I have had morning-noon-and night sickness the whole pregnancy with all 3 of my kids, but it's only supposed to be brutal when it's a boy. Guess the girls just wanted me sick too!!

I've heard that if you tie a ring (like you wear on your finger) to a string and let it hang over your belly, while you are laying on the floor, you can tell the sex by which way it moves. I can't remember if I am exactly right, but I think it was if the ring moves side to side, it is a girl and and if it moves in circles it is a boy. We tried it on my sister-in-law. We already knew she was having a boy at the time. When we did this, though, it also said she was having a boy. Obviously, don't start buying clothing based on this, but it is fun to try.

get a necklace chain, clip a small weight to the end of it. now, wrap the end of it snugly around your index finger. get comfortable, so you feel very relaxed, letting your finger with the chain dangle limply. preferably over your tummy.be patient , this will take a few minutes.slowly the chain will begin to move. if it spins in a circle, it is a boy, if it just goes side to side, it is a girl. # 2 get some powdered Drano in a cup. pee in it. if it turns blue, its a boy,any other color will be a girl. # 3 if you are carrying high, its a girl, if low, its a boy. # 4 If you crave salty foods, its a boy, if you crave sweet foods, its a girl. None of this junk is true, as I proved it wrong with my own pregnancies, but it is fun to try ! if I think of any more, I will edit my answer later.have fun!

ok, everybody knows the high and low belly, and the heartbeat but this is what I have been told, they say that if you felt anything going on in your belly during your first trimester, it will be a boy, but if you did not feel anything at all it is a girl. My sister has a boy and a girl, with the girl she didnt feel anything with the boy she says that she felt like she had bubbles in her belly, another friend says that she felt as if she had some air stock there moving around, and she had a boy too and another friend said that she felt like she had a ping pong ball inside her belly at 2 months and she had a boy too.....so the more movement it is more likely that it is a boy, the less movement a pretty girl.

i've heard that when someone's in the sixth month you can tell what the sex is going to be by looking at the vein on the backside of your tongue....if it is extremely dark blue than it's a boy if it's just a regular blue like most veins or there is a red one along side of it you're having a girl.

A "grandma" tale that was passed down to my father. His mom had said it to him: Unborn baby girl's heartbeats sound like a washing machine; baby boys' sounds like a heard of horses. I didn't know what the sex of either of my kids were before they were born. He walked in my hospital room, heard the monitor that monitored their heartbeats, abd said I was having a girl both time. I have 2 daughters....lol
