How many think that it should be discrimination for men not to have the same policies that a company sets forth for women? Example- women may wear earrings in the workplace but most companies do not allow men the same privaledge.

companies now a days accept for men to have earrings while in the workplace. Things sorta have changed about that, but its a matter of appearance and the way the company is. If you have employees who are for example salesmen and they dont work in the office and have to see clients, they have to have a clean appearance and the earings are just not acceptable. It has also to do with the generations working on the company, cause Generation X people dont accept earings and you have to respect that in order to do business with them.

Most usually the cicumstances aren't the same. Do men wear earrings or an earring. Which looks more professional? Do men wear skirts or high heels? Do men go and get their hair and nails done often? Not usually. My point is, that usually the rules are there for a reason. I agree that all rules should be equal for both sexes, but there are some rules that restrict women from doing things men do. Can women wear blue jeans to work. Not often. Can women of importance just come to work in sneakers and a ponytail? Not usually. It is for a reason that all rules are in place.

Cry me a river. If the worst thing that men have to face is that they can't wear earrings or skirts, then I can hardly feel bad about "reverse discrimination".

Try a glass ceiling on for size, or making 70% of what your male counterparts are making and then come tell me about discrimination.

i think it's a matter of common decency and safety, that they(managers of these companies) are trying to impliment, unlike in the US, where homosexuality is legal, there are still a few other countries where it is not, for these countries, it does not uplift the moral standards to see homosexuality exploited heavily in the streets. Whereas, the piercing of men's ears no longer define ur sexuality, things such as tight pants or tight shirt, or the piercing of the tongue, nose makes one assume a persons sexuality.
So since one's sexuality is not work related, then my opinion is that homosexuals can keep their sexuality to themselves, especially if they are living in a society or a country where homosexuality is not highly accepted by the majority. as i said above, this could also be a positive as it could help with their safety!

Companies don't make these policies to discriminate. They care about their public image. Earrings for women (one per ear) is a society norm. Earrings for men aren't. If you don't like their policies, work somewhere else.

Yeah, I wear earrings but my office is good with stuff like that. But... why can women be creative with what they wear while men HAVE to wear neckties all the time?

I am so glad you brought this topic to the forefront of the screen. There is outright discrimination against males in the country, and it is okay.

Yeah it is, why does it matter if you come to work in the buff? Aren't you there to perform at the job that they hired you for?

It's just management's way of showing they exist.

i think its b/s just like sexual harassment. They can say all they want to you & if you don't like it they think your gay or a wimp but as soon as you say anything they don't like, it's your ***. So why should they be able to wear earings and not us? I agree
