Why do people double-park right next to open parking spots?

Same reason people leave the shopping carts in parking spots when there are shopping cart caddies 5 feet away.....pure laziness!

Sometimes the car that is properly parked leaves before the double parked car leaves thus leaving what appears to be a double parked car beside an empty space.

Its much like when I go to 7-11 and there are 20 cars in the parking lot and every space in front of the store is full. I end up parking on the far corner of the lot and by the time I come out all 20 cars are gone and I am looking like an idiot. Other people who come to the store afterwards look at me in shock wondering to themselves, "Why did that fool park all the way over there?"

If that's street parking, anybody can park there. Sorry, yet street parking is permitted for anybody with a motor vehicle. If that's assigned parking spots interior the lot, then you particularly've a pork you could call the police on.

Maybe they can't drive well enough to get into the spot? Don't really know I live in a very rural area and don't encounter many parking issues.

People are lazy and selfish and unless it is a firetruck they should park the car and get the hell out of your way.
