I do believe that they have done the best that they can. However, their best is still not good enough to win. In my opinion, they need to improve their skills by sending players to Europe or South America to learn from the best.

They were not that bad - there is no shame in loosing to the Czech Republic or Ghana as both are strong teams - I think perhaps the expectations of the USA nation were too great given the rather high FIFA ranking that the team had (and probably did not deserve). Best way to improve would be for the relevant US authorities/bodies to invest more in the game and try to boost the popularity. But given the strength of following for the favourite team games played/watched in the US then they are fighting an uphill battle.

They don't hate the USA soccer team...Europeans will actually tell you that the quality of American soccer has improved (thus the increase of Americans in European clubs)...The MLS is getting more attention and gaining more interest from European clubs as well...This year the MLS All-Stars are rumored to be playing either Liverpool or Real Madrid...You will see that no European club has ever beat the MLS All-Star Team. MLS All-Stars v Celtic FC (2-0) MLS All-Stars v Chelsea (1-0) MLS All-Stars v Fulham (4-1) You might have also heard that Chelsea recognizes the MLS as a quality league after playing LA Galaxy (arguably the worst team in the MLS at the time) and only winning (1-0). Celtic FC made similar comments after their friendly with Chicago Fire with just a (1-1) result. With more international club competitions I believe the MLS as well as the US will improve to becoming one of the best leagues in the world. By the way I think most of the rumors you will hear about Europeans hating Americans, or anything about America, are mostly started by Americans themselves. Kind of like a lot of people from small towns all over America saying they are from Chicago or New york when they have lived most of their life in a small suburb of someplace like Des Moines, Iowa. America is a great country with a great culture and I believe it is a country that will be very competitive internationally including this next World Cup (2010). Support your MLS teams and stop trying to pretend you are from Manchester, London, or Liverpool...I think that is the only thing that confuses Europeans about Yanks...though I understand supporting European clubs with American players. Be proud of who you are...Be proud of American Soccer!

I think they would have won the world cup if Afghanistan,Iraq,China,Japan,Pakistan,Vietnam and Iran were the only countries that were playing but unfortunately there are some very poor nations like Germany,Italy,France, and England also in the competition so they just give away for the sake of good will to these poor nations VIVA USA

They do not get enough positive support in their own country. They have some talent, they must have to have got as far as they did, it's just that as usual America either has to win, or the sport does not exist. Give the USA team more support and better training and they will become a world force.

They suck because the best athletes in the country have nothing to do with soccer. Our strikers average 5'8" and about 150 pounds. Imagine if Terrell Owens, Michael Vick and Champ Bailey all played soccer since age 4. You think we would win the World Cup? We would DOMINATE!

To begin with, the only reason why USA is even competing in the World Cup is due to the sympathy felt for them from the other teams. Pity the fool! :-P

When Bruce Arena was first hired as coach I stated he was the wrong person for the job. We need someone from Brazil or Germany to coach this team, we have the talent. Brazilian if we want individualism and style, German if we want teamwork , defense and short term success.

I think they need a new coach and need to work harder in scouting for players. The team needs to replace: Reina, Mcbride, Lewis, and a few of the older players. And Donovan needs to leave MLS and go to Europe so he can learn to play against the best in the world. 17 stragiht matches for him, ZERO goals!
