Yes. You have to give it a name. You should give any ppet a name even a fish. Animals have feelings just like humans. if yu were a fish wouldn't you want a name or somethinjg to be called?

I have an aquarium, and a goldfish pond outside. The aquarium has several fish, but only the Betta has a name, Maroon. It's my boyfriend's favorite color, and why I chose that fish.
One goldfish (of 5) outside is named Lace, because it has black "lace" on it's fin tips.

My Beta fish was originally named Frank for Frankenstein (got him on Halloween) but my son thought we should re-name him to Lucky because he's lucky to still be alive! He also had goldfish & named them "Car, Truck & Motorcycle!!"
