"2 be 1 ask 1" is the motto- just look up your local lodge and contact the secretary, he'll be happy to get you a petition. You must have two master masons sign for you, just ask to meet some of the lodge members and after they've spoke with you they will more than likely sign your petition, then 3 members will come to your home for an interview to see what kind of person you are, and based on said interview will either recommend or not recommend you for membership. If recommended the lodge will vote on you during a stated meeting- the vote must be a unanimous "yes"- 1 "no" vote and you're out.

The masons take good men and make better men by teaching brotherhood and morality using lecture and symbolism, it is a good thing- don't buy into the conspiracy theories. Also, if you want to join to gain material wealth and power don't bother- there are no powerful or wealthy men at my lodge, myself included!

Best of luck to you!

You have to be invited by at least two of the particular lodge members. You then go for an interview with the Master of the lodge and the lodge committee, all being OK you would join and it usually takes around a year to go through all the stages.

If you know a mason who can give you a character reference and recommendation it is easier. If you dont know any masons it is still possible. Depends where you are located and how the lodge functions in your area.

You probably have to become a complete arsehole and wait to be invited. Try the Grand Order of Buffalo's instead or Opus deis is fashionable just now. Send me a £20 and I'll give you a Doctorate at the University of Life - that will impress your friends.

You can't join electively... they have to decide that you are a worthy member, and someone on the inside ring has to invite you. Then you have to pass their challenges to test your worthyness, withstand the test of time, and bravo, you're a member!

I think you have to be related to someone who's already (or was before death) a member. It will help if you can find out if anyone in your family was ever a member, and then maybe mention that you'd like to be considered to someone you know is a member (or just mention it in their presence so they "overhear" you)... be subtle, I don't think they take kindly to pushy people.
