Yes. The reason is a square shape has a longer edge distance and this means more filling is exposed to the air. A triangle stays fresh longer

My mom always used to say so. I think she was right in a way.

I suppose if you blindfolded someone and asked them to taste two different sandwiches, they would taste the same.

But how something is presented makes such a difference in cooking - that's why Nouvelle Cuisine is so popular.

But some people (eg my permanently hungry 18 year old son) prefer great big doorstep shaped sandwiches.

I think triangular sandwiches show that someone has put a lot of care into the preparation, and look pretty. Especially good for ladies tea parties, little children, and anyone who is feeling a bit unwell - it would really tempt them to eat.

Why do you ask?

Yes, triangle shape makes a sandwich taste better :-) maybe it's mental?

It does, since the ingredients of the sandwich are kept available to taste in every bite. While the square ones generally end up having them all only in the middle.

I don't think they taste any different it's just how some people prefer their sandwiches to look like they're also easier to eat like that.
I prefer triangle sandwiches but I know they don't taste different it just seems that way to me

Yes. My son, coincidentally, just informed me yesterday, that he can hardly choke down a sandwich that's not in a triangle, since they are so much better that way. Really!

No. It is all in your head. It is a psychological thing. Cutting a sandwich cannot alter the taste.

if you have triangle sandwiches everyday, certainly not...
try having rectangle or squares after 5 yrs of triangles... see what tastes better then..

Not if you picked up a sandwich and found you didn't like the filling after the first bite

Yes I believe they do. I take care of 3 little children and because my mother cut my sandwiches that way I cut mine that way. Now the children I take care of always want theirs cut that way. But not before I came along. I wonder what their mother thinks about this?
