There is the socialist party very active in the USA. There are groups like "Answer" who sponser the anti-war rallies, in which democrats blindly join.
The democrat's are pretty much a socialist party now. Can you name one policy they are pushing that does not stem from socialism?
There are dozens of parties in the USA. The main two are Republicans, and Democrats. We have what is called a two party system.
The two party system attempts to keep the minority from being elected. That is how Clinton got elected, because another candidate pulled votes away from the more popular candidate, and the minority vote ended up being larger.

To the anti-Democracy. The Democratic party isn't a socialist based party, it is a Progressive based party. In all correctness, however, the far left WOULD be considered quite socialist. On the other hand, the far right would be considered quite fascist.

I'm sorry? I believe there are? They just aren't very popular, and never have any attention paid to them at campaign times. They also don't make an impact upon election results. Just a hold-over remnant from the '50's and '60's, really, and no one cares about them or wants to waste a vote that they know won't affect anything.

Just because you didn't read about it on the news doesn't mean they aren't around. They're around, but just enough for people who pay attention to politics to see them. They're mostly incompetent and incredibly out of touch with reality, so they haven't made much progress.

Socialism and communism do not work in practice.
They are 'ideal' premises.
Humans want and need competition to be happy - those ideologies do not support the natural human desire to be individually creative.
