Ooooh. Be careful not to choose the WRONG picture. Since this art piece will be with you all of your life everywhere you ever go, give it a lot of thought and consideration. I have a tattoo I got on a day I did not KNOW I was getting a tat. My older sister who had three tattoos at the time and now has 6 was having a tattoo party, kinda like a Tupperware Party! I wasn't planning on partaking. Go sit in the tattoo studio today and find something. You can also look at illustrated books at the library and/or bookstore. I love the art of Dennis Nolan (children's book illustrator) and Harvey Chan as well. Lots of galleries of tattoo artists are online too. Don't rush it! You don't want to do this until some art piece SPEAKS to you.
DOES IT HURT? That completely depends on where you get it. I would say it hurts a little but you can tolerate it...it only lasts a short time. You're gonna wanna yell out "STOP THAT! WHY ARE YOU DOING THAT? STOP THAT! THAT'S ANNOYING!!" ...and then you realize you PAID this person to torture you a little bit. The adrenaline rush helps you to endure.
Enjoy!

My first advice to you is do NOT get a tattoo just because it is your birthday. A tattoo is a permanent mark and a very visual representative of who you are... it is not something to be taken lightly. Give it a lot of thought.
You need to consider that it will probably be with you for the rest of your life, so stop & think if it will be something you will not regret 5,10 or 20+ years from now.
Perhaps instead of getting the tattoo on your birthday you can instead treat yourself to magazines or visit tattoo shops or local artists to get the feel of what designs you like the most. Get the tattoo later when you're sure you've found the perfect one.
Once you do decide that a tattoo is something you are prepared for, make sure that the shop you will have it at is clean & sterile. Check that the artist is professional in every sense of the word and not just some back alley kid practising his skills on people. It would help if you could check out the work he or she has done on other people. Talk to the artist 1st about your fears or expectations... they should be concerned & willing to give you the facts. It will help you develope a rapport & will make you feel more comfortable with that person.
Tattoos hurt. No matter where you have them done or how high or low your tolerance to pain is. The only way to minimise the pain for yourself is by choosing a design that is not so big. The bigger the tattoo the longer it will take. This is your 1st tattoo so I suggest get a small 1. After you have had the experience & decide you can take the pain you can always go back & add to it later.
I have 2tattoos. The 1st is on my lower back. The 2nd is much bigger &is on my lower abdomen(from 1hip to the other).
My tattoos were my own design & carry with them a very personal meaning. Dont get something with a boys name or a cartoon design. Get something that has a deeper&more personal meaning to it than just a drawing on your skin. People will ask. You will have a story to tell.
Your piece of art will truly become a piece of you if you dont take it so lightly. God speed!

Sweetie, you should spend more than one day deciding about what tattoo is going to grace your body for the rest of your life. I spent 2 years picking the right one. You don't want to be 80 years old and have Goofy tattooed on your shin, for example. Pick something tasteful that will still look good when you are old. Cute is great for now, but how will you feel in 40 years? Yes, a tatto hurts. The less fat that is in the area, the more it hurts. It's not unbearable though. Please think long and hard about it. In the meantime, just do a search for tatto parlors online. They usually have a lot of their art displayed and you can look through it to your hearts content.

i dont know where you can find any cool drawings but im sure if you google cute tattoo or something like that youll find what you want
does it hurt well it doesnt tickle but its not the worst thing in the world either
it is so worth it though i have a couple already and another being drawn for me now
my only advice is dont go to some web site or into a tattoo shop and pick one out of the book or catalog
be original you dont want someone else to have the same tat you do
i looked online and found images of real things i wanted and then had a friend draw it for me

DO NOT make a snap decision on a tattoo! Carefully choose both the Design and the Artist.
This is something you will have for the rest of your life, so it really is worth the extra time to find what you really, really want and who you want to do it.
I know some people that took their time and ended up with some of the greatest ink I've ever seen. Don't put a deadline on when you have to get inked.
And, it hurts a little. Depends on your tolerance for pain and how much fill-in is in your design. It's kind of like a itchy, buzzy, burning...I kind of like it.
Happy Birthday and Have Fun!

A tattoo should be something you really think thru and make sure you want it. I have two tattoos that I got spur of the moment right after my 18th birthday. I really regret the one becuase it is on my upper back and you can see it basically in any shirt or dress.... in the next couple of years I plan on getting it lazered off. Although my other tattoo I absolutley love, it is about 4" below my belly button and to the left a little bit, just on the inside of my hip bone. its a very sexy spot and wont show in all of your outfits. dont just pick a drawing off the wall, make sure it means something to you becuase you will have it for the rest of your life.

Depends on the artwork and where. I've seen women that have tattoos that I find absolutely gorgeous. And then i've seen girls with 7-8 tattoos that are cheap and poorly done and I think they look like trash. The people that get Friday the 13th $13-$20 tats are trash. The people that actually put money and thought into their tats more than likely will look good.

Be careful what you choose. You can always design something yourself & take it to the tattoo-ist. I have one on my back left shoulder of a rose & it didn't really hurt & the results are immediately beautiful. Be sure you can cover it for work too. Also, be sure you pick a reputable tattoo-ist with clean needles, etc.& not some guy in a dirty garage.

Go to a tat shop. Tats do hurt some, more on more sensitive areas of your body.
Advice: 1. DO NOT GET A BUTTERFLY on your shoulder. Many chicks have that. 2. DO NOT put a boys/mans name anywhere. You'll live to regret it. 3. DO NOT place it where it can be seen by an employer (unless you can cover it with a shirt/slacks etc).

the tattoo shops have allot of "flash", or pics on the wall to choose from. Or you can search images on the internet. I suggest picking something that is meaningful to you because it will be on there forever. Tattoos do sting, but it is very worth it.
